Mother's Day help?
Reminder to the slackers - Mother's Day is Sunday May 11th!
Now here is my dilemna.. this year, rather than the usual brunch or dinner/bbq that we usually do for Mother's Day, my mom decided she wants to "do something" as a family other than just eat and decided I should plan something.
Any suggestions?

Going to a play can be entertaining. There are also shows out there that require audience participation, kind of like a whodunit type thingy that seems like fun and a good bonding experience for a family. Museums with special exhibits can be cool as well and some have IMAX theaters in them. I personally like the shows arranged by IMAX.
If it's just your mother and you, I know that there are some spa weekend getaways that are done especially to celebrate Mother's Day. For example, the one out here in Austin sets you and your mother up in a cabin out on the lake. They have various fitness classes and massage therapys going on during the day. In addition, arranged meals as well as movies you can rent that are very much 'chick flicks.' Bring your own bottles of wine.

Take her on a tour of various nursing homes to see which one she likes best?
But seriously, I wouldn't do the movie/play thing. Then you're just spending several hours with your family without interacting at all. I'd do the meal, something small like Rav's idea on mini-golf, then I'd head back to the house and have everyone recite a short story/memory about your mom. It might be a little early depending on where you live, but you could head to an arboretum or nature conservatory and take a walk around as well...
