The Ring

Post by Bubba Grizz »

Well, we bought this DVD on the recommendation of many people. Watched it last night. I didn't feel the horror so much as others did. The movie was interesting to be sure but I didn't feel the horror I felt when I first watched Nightmare on Elm Street when I was a kid. I did like the ending though.

Damn good flick. My GF and I watched the DVD last night too. As far as modern horror movies go, this one is a gem.

I read the original script last year and I thought it was decent. The remake was good as well. Just good though...not great...good. However, it was nice to see a film deviate from the recent crap fest such as scream, etc. Those movies just plain sucked ass.

The Ring was decent..a worthwwhile rental indeed. Just not the AMAZING film that the hype portrays.

Also, I would like to point out that I was VERY dissappointed with Naomi Watts not getting naked. I love her and will buy her things should she fall interest to me. :P

Stupid movie. Such a ridiculous premise that I was turned off entirely within the first 5 minutes. Only a full nude lesbian scene between her and the girl portraying her niece could have saved this piece of shit.

An ok movie but I found that it dragged in parts. I can see where it may have been scary to watch while sitting in a dark theatre but it wasn't scary at home. I liked the story line but it was a bit predictable. I would give it a 3 out of 5 personally and wouldn't buy it.

good horror movies are hard to find these days

and this movie isn't one of them

I'd rather watch Poltergeist II than this

Yeah, I watched this finally on DVD ...so many saying how good it was here at work. It was enjoyable, but nothing great. Not even scary... Much prefer The Others over this. Or ever watching Sixth Sense for the hundreth time...

I thought it was quite good for a horror movie, very well made and that video was pretty damn freaky, so are little kids!

I just watched The Ring tonight, and I felt like I was watching fear.com. Same kind of premise - watch a video, die within a set period of time if you don't figure out what you were supposed to do.

I can't say it was all that scary, though it was somewhat interesting.

All the modern horrors have pretty much sucked, so I don't have high hopes when I watch them. I figure I'll rent Ghost Ship this weekend and see how bad that one sucked.

I watched the Japanese one last night. Although the American remake follows all the basic plot lines and mostly reproduces the same characters, I will have to express a slight preference for the original Japanese make. I wish I had seen it first, as I think some of the frightening scenes were done better in the original, but were not at all scary because I knew exactly what was going to happen. Basically, the Japanese version relies more on paranormal powers than investigative journalism and it cuts out (or more precisely, does not add) a good deal of unimportant scenes - making the movie only 90 mins but still getting every part of the story across (I am not usually a proponent of shorter is better, but in this case, it was).

If you have not seen it and are planning to, I'd recommend the original version over the remake.

Watched this yesterday. Most of the movie, I didn't find scary. More suspenseful but not downright scary. Except... for the part where the guy is in his studio, and the tv turned on and the girl came out. Now THAT was freaky. Just the way she was walking from the well to the tv screen.. very creepy. And how she came out of the tv.. *shiver*

The movie though, left me with OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of questions. Maybe the answers were revealed during the movie, and I missed them. /shrug

They had to set up a potential sequel ending. So maybe more answers will be found then?

Aye Bubba, that's probably it. If they revealed too much then they would have nothing for the sequal. :)
