Report: U.S. Planners Underestimated Iraqi Shi'ites

Post by Neroon »

http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/reuters20030423_20.html
— WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. officials plotting the future of Iraq underestimated the organizational strength of the Shi'ite majority and are not prepared to prevent the rise of an anti-American, Islamic fundamentalist government, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.
There's going to be a whole lot of "I told you so's" going on, I can just feel it. Can you say, breeding ground for future terrorists?

Disclaimer: I don't mean breeding ground due to being Islamic, but being fundamentalist.

Ahmed Chalabi is hillarious.

Groomed by the US to be Saddam successor in Iraq.
The Kurds, Shiites and Suniis openly dislike him.
He hasn't been in Iraq for over 10 years.
He's ridiculed as an 'American'.
He had to flee Jordan facing conviction of fraud (300 mil).
He's a non practicing Shiia.
Several members of his Iraqi National Congress have been arrested for looting.

How can the US openly give this worthless piece of shit their support?
The CIA just loves him.

I mean, if you're going to push someone into power, you should try to find someone with a lot less dirty laundry.

It's pretty funny because if Iraq was ever made into a true democracy then the country would vote in a hardline Shi'ite fundy dictator on the very first election, and Iraq will be a lot worse off than it ever was under Saddam's regime.

The Americans in charge will just go, "Oh here is your new president. We picked him out for you democratically, and were at least 5% sure he won't turn on us by next week. HOORAY FOR FREEDOM."

You're wrong. Nothing bad will happen. Everything will be just fine. Stop asking questions and stirring up trouble.
