End around for the laggy patcher

End around for the laggy patcher

Post by Zebedi »

Saw this on a messageboard somewhere, visited too damn many today and i've forgetten where exactly I saw it...

Start the command prompt window.
Switch to your eq directory (default is c:/"program files/everquest" ... quotes because of the space in "program files")

Enter "eqgame patchme" at the command line, loads you directly into the game bypassing the patcher.

Most of the time you can still run EQ without patching, if this is the case here, just run the file "eqgame.exe" instead of "everquest.exe".

The first file takes you directly to the two splash screens before the login console, the second takes you to patch first.

I don't think there are any switches available to the eqgame.exe file (eqgame patchme? hrm...).

This fix is only to avoid the patcher, ie: you patched, got booted to desktop after a LD etc.

If you're crashing to desktop because you're using outdated files or are missing a file, you're going to have to patch as normal.

Patcher isn't working on either computer here. I know there was a patch last night so there isn't any point in trying to log on without patching. This happening to anyone else?

The patch server is so lagged out from jaggedpine that it's timing people out. I'm also thinking that people that are trying out the new UI are lagging it more as they log out to desktop to switch it on and off and try out different skins.

Update on avoiding the patcher (once you're sure you have latest files).

Go to the Run command in start menu and enter this line.

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme
Somebody doubted the patchme switch on eqgame.. tried it without and it pops up a box telling you to run everquest.exe.
