Stocks

Post by Diogenes60 »

Looking to invest some money into the stock market, while we are at this low point (hopefully wont go much lower).

Any ideas on some good stocks?
Any tips/hints with investing would be a big help also.

You posting that question here is your first mistake. Taking the advice of anyone here will be your second.

It's not too late to invest in an IRA. You can put up to $2,000 in and it's completely tax deductable. You'll also be saving for the future. This is a traditional IRA, not the Roth. The Roth IRAs are taxed, but you get special benefits from them that you don't get from a traditional.

If you don't want to put a ton of time into research, put it into an index fund. One tied to the S&P 100 is pretty safe, and will most likely outperform the market over time.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Winnow dabble quite a bit in stocks? Or he's a broker or something?

So what if he does? Coming to a game forum looking for hot stock tips makes me wonder how this guy stumbled upon money to invest in the first place.

The same argument could be used about political discussions here, but it still happens.

And since when has this been a game forum?

You're prejudement of the people here doesn't reflect well on yourself. If you have hung out here long enough you would realize we have quite an array of people who play/played EQ and hang here on these boards.

Yes we have a lot of young, dumb, full of cum kiddoes, but there a lot of intelligent well to do people as well. Asking advice here is not so bad an idea at all. I know I have gotten a lot of great advice here myself and seen a lot of others receive some as well.

Posting here for the past 4 years is hardly a prejudgement. But if you guys still feel a need to ask for hot stock tips, marriage counselling, and career info from an online flaming/gaming forum, then go for it.

If you have been around that long, then you should have realized that this has gone beyong a flaming/gaming forum and has become more of a dysfunctional family :)

I'll give general tips or answer questions about reading chart patterns and analyzing real time streamer info but I don't think I'd want to give specific stock tips. Daytrading is in and out of stocks in a few minutes and usually being out of all positions at the end of the day.

You'd have to use F5 a lot to take advantage of a stock tip I would give : )

screw the stock market, just give all the money to me.
I got laid less when i used a Pentium. I talk about my AMD and how it has 8 data channels instead of 6 and why AMD's QuantiSpeed Architecture easily out-performs Intel's Hyperthreading technology. Suffice to say that it gets the chicks all hot and flustered...

Here's a tip: stay the hell away from our stock market for at least a few weeks, if not a few months. Thank me later.
