My EQ Life...
Re: My EQ Life...
Don't do it!
EQ is going to be 25 years old this year. Let that sink in.

Re: My EQ Life...
I logged in a week or two ago. It took me so long just to figure out how to launch it since it's not eq.exe any longer. I knew the launcher had replaced it but I wasn't sure where that was.
And for some reason I was in Icefell which I don't know why. I think maybe because I logged out in the guild housing zone. Anyway, I couldn't remember how to find port locations. I eventually used the Origin AA once I found that hotkey. Or maybe it was the Vet AA ability. Is that Origin? I don't recall.
Then, everybody used to be AFK in the middle of the Guild Lobby now for some weird reason everyone is on the left side. What is up with that?! Even with that change I definitely noticed less characters there than I did the last time I logged on.
I do miss EQ (at times) but I'm not sure I can see myself playing it because it's just one big hamster wheel. Sure you get better abilities and weapons.. But the enemies also get more abilities and HP to balance that out. But that really describes most games these days.
I also don't think I could play it at the casual level but joining a guild and having to deal with all the BS like raids and attendance and DKP feels a lot like a job. And I already have a job.

Re: My EQ Life...
Somebody decided to donate 6 accounts to be afk buff bots, to just automatically MGB the lobby every 15 mins or so, and he put them on the left side corpse summoners... so everyone followed. Talked to the guy for a few minutes and he wants to keep himself anonymous (since afk botting is against the rules, although the GMs are sort of giving him a pass since he isnt playing the game with bots). A number of the regulars have even been leveling the toons for him to keep the buffs up to date. Paying for 6 accounts just to help the server is such a hero move, whoever it is.Aslanna wrote: ↑July 6, 2025, 2:51 am I logged in a week or two ago. Well Mystery Incorporated (Cestus Dei, reformed) is pretty casual about it's raids, 100% at will. If you want to raid, raid, if you dont, dont. Nobody is gonna bitch about it. When I came back I applied to Inverse Logic, raided a few months with them on the newly leveled ranger, and was denied (after they completely geared two of my toons) because frankly, I still sucked at the time on that brand new to me class.
After i went back to eq again after missing an expac, MI applied to me. I just happened to get into a few groups with one of their officers and impressed him enough he wanted me to join and see if I liked it enough to stay. That's the kind of treatment I expect from a guild, as thats how it was for me in EQ2. Guilds applied to me in that game, and that goes to one's head. Unlike IL, there is not one person I dislike in MI. All good people, even if not good players. Sort of the inverse of IL, where there was all good players, but only 4 people who werent asshats.
So even though MI is more casual, we still get the stuff done, and I got the first t2 ranger bow on the server. Luck of the draw of course, as TR and IL were in the new zones a week before us, and a bowstring happened to drop on our second kill.
I no longer suck on that ranger, and am usually top DPS on the good long DPS fights. Any sort of mob switching or faster fights tho, the burn classes will do better. Quite enjoy raiding the ranger, because it isnt a burn class instead steady DPS, and unlike the SK, I dont need to chase nothing. Just raided Ironfoot last night to get him some achievements, and It really made me appreciate that ranger more.
If you are interested in coming back, I can help ya get caught up on levels (i've got like 5 130s on each account already) and get ya into MI no prob. Still some old veeshan peeps still going, and ya may know a few of them.
Edit add: Fenwyn, a half elf ranger I did not recognize, and I were chatting a few weeks ago for like an hour going down the nostalgia lane because apparently He was in both Pravus Dei and Fiends with me. back in Kunark-PoP. Funny stuff.
edit add edit add: Saw somebody mentioned Double A (Aallaan) in your 2011 post about CD. Yup, he's still here. Gutun/Nithro is current guild leader if either of those are his original toons, Iresith I think is also an oldhead, as well as Achromia, though both could be Luclin transplants, as I dont think I ever asked them about it. Reorx and Saladen still wear their "of Veeshan" tags. So if any of those people ring a bell, come at least say Hi.
Sick Balls!
