He was 97. By itself, an impressive age to live to but jaw dropping if you know his story.
One of the best non fiction audio books I've ever listened to, Unbroken, will be a movie out in theaters in Dec 2014. The book has been on the best seller list for 4 years straight.
I'm guessing that movie will be decent but Louis Zamperini's story of survival is incredible.
It's directed my Angelina Jolie and the Cohen Brothers which I hope turns out OK.
The audio book is amazing. It's read by one of the best audio book readers out there, Edward Herrmann.

While a story of inspiration, things get worse, and worse, and worse, and worse for Zamperini. Just one torment he goes through feels like a triumph to have survived but amazingly his situation gets worse when you think there's no way it could. There's no taking "sides" in this. You simply will be in awe of what he endured and survived.

Looks promising. Biggest thing that concerns me is that he won't look anywhere near as fucked up, skinny, etc as he actually was. Perhaps reading the book afterwards (or before) will give a better sense of it all as it describes in detail what happened physically as well as mentally.
Sad to hear of his passing.
