Harvard's Intro to Computer Science course free online
Re: Harvard's Intro to Computer Science course free online
iTunes U has a ton of free classes from major universities including a lot of computer/software topics. The course you mentioned has a 4/5 star rating. Looks like it's been available since 2007.

If you have an iOS device you can watch them all for free on the go or can watch them on iTunes at home. It offers a great centralized location to find free learning from Universities.
Here's a long list of all institutions offering free iTunes U courses:

You'll find almost every top University on that list. Here are some courses offered by Stanford for example:

There's really no excuse to not educate yourself. You won't get the diploma but you'll gain the knowledge but that's the most important in some programming fields anyway, or if you're going to develop your own app, etc. Sure you can also go to the library but I'd argue viewing the actual classroom environments helps backed up by visual and audio and interaction from the class participants.
It's worth checking out if you never have. Besides the core topics, there are also some oddball topics that may be of interest to specific people.

Great post (though the 2007 version of the course was likely much different).

True. I believe they're updated as the Copyright shows 2010-2013.Leonaerd wrote:Great post (though the 2007 version of the course was likely much different).
I just looked at the dates and it was posted September 1, 2010. I checked out your link, while hard to tell, I did see some notes that were updated 9/2013. It lists all quizzes from 2007 through 2013 so your direct link may be preferred. It might be wise to check iTunes U for possible courses and then check the individual Universities to see if there's an updated offering.
I just compared the week one video and it's updated to 2013 on the direct link you provided. You also can choose 1080P which is nice.
It's amazing how young the people are teaching the courses. I feel old!
