Little Big Planet 2
I preordered the Collector's Edition last June/July, thought I cancelled it when it was delayed from Nov 2010, but apparently didn't because when I got home from work last night the CE edition was sitting on my kitchen table. I didn't want to get this game at release is because I'm making an effort to trim down my gaming budget this year and concentrate on my backlog. I've done really well in 2011 so far, passing on 2 sales as well as not grabbing a PSN title I normally would've picked up immediately (Eat Them!). Now I have the 75$ CE of a game where I haven't even played through the first one. This game was in the 30$ or less column of my 2011 list of games to buy. The CE is a complete rip off. You get some skins, a cheap plushie, and bookends that are made out of cardboard. It is not an impressive package at all.
Anyway, let's talk about LBP shall we? I couldn't wait to get the first one. It was one of the reasons I wanted a PS3. I figured my kids would love it. Maybe they still will someday, but the game is actually pretty difficult for them right now. Lots of subtle movements are involved in the platforming that are just beyond them at their age. As for me, the floaty jumping pretty much ruined the entire game. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. However, the aesthetic surrounding the game is still a lot of fun and I do enjoy it for what it is. I never delved into the creation aspect with the first one like I thought I would because I was too busy playing other games.
LPB2 is exactly like the first one. There is no difference in the main "story" mode. It's like more levels for the first game. The true sequel elements come in the form of new widgets and such that can be used when creating your own levels. This is truly where the sequel shines. Players can even get rid of the floaty jumping when they make their own levels! The toolbox has been expanded by leaps and bounds, allowing people to create some really amazing things. I really suggest a few youtube searches to see some of these changes first hand. There's a lot of content here to create with. If you are into that, then LBP2 is a must buy. However, if you're like I am and never really got into that aspect, then wait until the game is on sale. I really like LBP2's backwards compatibility. All the stuff from the first game works with the 2nd, including the millions of user made levels. I was able to access the Pirates of the Caribbean (water) content I purchased from the first game from LPB2's menu system. It even seamlessly imported my character from the first game and altered the tutorial based on the fact that I already played the first game. I know I didn't really play the first one that much, but if I could only play a handful of games, LBP2 would probably make a top 10 list because there is so much to do and play at any given time.
One thing I find kind of lame is that LBP2 was supposed to support 3D. The 3D aspect is still all over the product, with characters wearing 3D glasses and whatnot, but the feature was taken out. It's odd that they didn't go back change that stuff when the feature was dropped from development. Even the sackboy on one of the bookends is wearing 3D glasses! Maybe they'll patch that stuff in later. The game also supports the Move controller, but I haven't tried that out yet. When I do, I'll post impressions in this thread.
Whatever feelings you have about the original LBP will carry over to the sequel. If you haven't played the series, I think the first one is 30$ now, and cheaper on sale. Just get that and play it until LBP2 is on sale.

Re: Little Big Planet 2
Started playing it last night, haven't played much but I like it so far. I guess I don't know what you're talking about with the jumping, I never had a issue with the jumping. I played the SHIT out of the first one, and I have a feeling it's not going to be any different this time around.
I didn't spend much time creating on the first one, but I plan on creating some stuff this time around fo sho. It definitely seems tougher than the first in story mode, I didn't try too hard but I couldn't figure out how to get to 100% on the second level already!

Ive seen some good Adventures, Beatemups, Sidescrolling Shooters made so far

Re: Little Big Planet 2
All of your previous DLC from LBP1 is fully compatible and integrated into LBP2, unless you bought the GOTY edition. If that's the case, you're fucked. None of the DLC included in the GOTY edition carries over. None of it.
What a fucking joke.

I could use my GOTY content in both the LBP2 demo and beta.

Re: Little Big Planet 2
None of my on disc GOTY DLC is available in LBP2, so I hit the Internet in search of answers. Now that we’re a few days away before the release of LittleBigPlanet 2, a lot of gamers are still wondering whether the content on the Game of the Year edition of the first LittleBigPlanet is fully compatible with the sequel.
From a plethora of content that is available on the Game of the Year edition of LittleBigPlanet, I am sad to report that none of the content included on the Game of the Year edition disc can be imported in LittleBigPlanet 2. However, as reported by IGN, all of the items that are purchased on the PlayStation Store can be used on the upcoming LittleBigPlanet 2.
ie:
Metal Gear Solid Level Pack – featuring the “Paintinator” paintball gun
Metal Gear Solid Costumes
Monsters Costumes
Monsters Pack
History Costumes
History Pack
Animals Costumes
The Pirates of the Caribbean and Marvel DLC I paid for and downloaded from PSN is available. None of the on disc DLC is available.

I'm not sure which part of the quoted and bolded section I posted above that you didn't understand, but I'll go ahead and leave links to 2 sites that reported the information.miir wrote:That must be a bug.

It's so hard to tell if you're ignorant or just plain wrong when you post anything having to do with the PS3, so it's hard to take you seriously, sorry!
The above site's information coincide with what is happening with me. Your information does not. I would love to be wrong here, but based on what I have read and what I am experiencing, I am not.

All I know is that the content from my GOTY was available in Beta and in the demo.
That is why I suggested you post something on the MM forums.
Perhaps it's a bug.

Re: Little Big Planet 2
OK. Now we're getting somewhere. I also read that it worked in Beta and the demo, but not in retail version.
If you have the retail version, check and see if your GotY content is there. My gut feeling is that is will not be. Trying to find out the truth on the Net is like running around in circles chasing my tail. There are way too many ways to word the question, and the information that says it will be included is all well before LBP2 was released, and all of that has proven to be hearsay. The info above is the best I can find and the closest to release.
I'll check deeper in the menu system later (as was suggested by another forum).

Re: Little Big Planet 2
Yes, the content from the GotY edition transfers over to LBP2. It was not there before, but it is now. The only reason I can think of why, is perhaps I was not online the first time I played LBP2? No idea, but everything shows up now and it did not before.
I was seriously going to try and figure out a way to return LBP2 if my content did not transfer...

Re: Little Big Planet 2
There's so much misinformation on video game blogs that I didn't really put much value on those two links you posted. That's why I was sugesting you go to the Media Molecule site. The community there would have gotten you accurate info.
I wasn't trolling or being inflammatory.
All you had to do was look at the tone of my posts. It's so hard to tell if you're ignorant or just plain wrong when you post anything having to do with the PS3

Lots of posts were saying the same thing Miir was. However, I had plenty of others having the same issue as I was. I never said Miir was wrong, I just said I didn't believe him!
