RIP Pete Postlewaite

Post by Keverian FireCry »

One of the best actors of our time died today at 64. :( Even with the smallest role he was unforgettable, no matter the film.

"Get your rest, Gentlemen. The boat will be ready for you on Friday. If I see you or any of your friends before then, Miss. Finneran will find herself the victim of a most gruesome violation before she dies. As will your father, Mr. Hockney. and your Uncle Randall in Arizona, Mr. Kint. I might only castrate Mr. McManus's nephew, David. Do I make myself clear?"

It's a good thing you posted his picture, because I had no idea what his name was, but he was a pretty seriously awesome actor. Most of his roles were pretty small - or at least the ones I've seen - but he always had a definitive presence on screen.
Going out to play pool now with my fellow klan members. Have a nice night. - Midnyte

Yeah I had to look the name up as well when I heard. His face is a lot more familiar to people than his name, since he's a character-actor w/ small roles usually. I highly recommend seeing 'In The Name of The Father' if you want to see a great movie with him in a more prominent role(as Daniel Day Lewis' father). He got nominated for an Oscar for it.

Regarding his unfamiliar name- I found this gem of a quote from the actor:
My first agent wanted me to change [my name]. So I changed him instead. When I made a breakthrough as an actor, people started to say, 'Who's that bloke with the funny name?' They advised me to change it, saying it would never be put up in lights outside theaters because they couldn't afford the electricity. But I would never contemplate changing it. It's who I am. It's my mother and father, my whole family. It's where everything I am comes from. I couldn't imagine living my life with another name.
