FOIP

Post by Siji »

So I picked up on of those all-in-one print/scanner/fax/copy machines for the wife recently and I'm trying to figure out what the least expensive way would be to do fax over IP. I've got a IP phone (Avaya 4621SW IP) for work in my office, but it doesn't seem to want to work for faxing. I momentarily considered Magic Jack but read somewhere that getting fax to work over them is iffy at best. I looked at a couple other things as well, but they're either way more than I want to spend (Vonage) or not very reliable. Obviously, we have no home phone service just iPhones.. I believe there's a potential way to do it over a cell line also, but I couldn't really find any clear ways of doing that and I'd rather get FOIP working so I could receive faxes as well.

Does anyone have any experience getting this to work? I don't want to spend a lot of money because I don't fax all that often but since I'm 100% VO for work, it would be a nice alternative to running to Kinko's or something to fax stuff.

Thanks in advance..

Try dialing *99 in front of the number you are calling. Works for me with Ooma, most of the time.
