Party Down (Starz Show)

Post by Tyek »

Has anyone seen this show? I had heard very little about it, but seemed to have an interesting cast so we put it on the Netflix Instant Watch list and I have to say it was pretty damn good. Like a more evil version of "The Office"(US version). If you Like It's Always Sunny in Philadephia or show like it then you should like it.

It is about a party catering company, most of the employees are failed actors and one is a "Hard SCI-Fi writer" who rights movies about attacking birds, rips on Lucas and follows Sulu into the restroom to tell him how much he loved him in Star Trek.

I think most of it was improvised. Its pretty funny watching a server tripping on mushrooms, or seeing people have to serve penis shaped appetizers to porn stars. If you have a 360, Netflix and some time, try it out. Only 10 episodes about 28 minutes long each. The pilot is by far the weakest episode and the writing hits its stride by midseason.

By the end my wife was asking when the second season starts.

I watched a number of episodes and enjoyed all of them. I had forgotten about it though, I should check out the rest of the season.

I've watched that and that other show Head Case they have. They probably have more as well but those are the only 2 I know of. Anyway, out of the 2 Party Down is the better of the two. I like the guest appearances in Head Case but the show overall doesn't really do much for me.

I have to admit, I was not as impressed with the second season. It felt like it was missing something the first season had. Although I did enjoy the Steve Guttenberg episode.
