[Rec]

Post by Hesten »

Just came home from the theater after watching the spanish horror movie [Rec], and i can really reccomend getting it on DVD (since i doubt very much any theater most places will show it, i only got to see it because of our yearly night film festival where they show some of the foreign movies not normally shown in theaters).

It's about a TV anchor girl Angelá that work on the show "While you are sleeping". She is doing a report on firemen, and goes with a crew of two firemen to a building where a women are hurt.
But it all descend into chaos, and suddently Angela, her cameraman, the fireman, two cops, and the people who live in the building are trapped, and all hell breaks loose.
ALL of the movie are shot from the camera, Blair Witch style, but unlike Blair Witch, this is actually scary. I swore off movies in that faux documentary style after BW, but this was good. It seems a little campy at first, but that seems to be to fool you for what is to come, and works rather well.
The movie is being remaked as Quarantine in the US, so for God's sake, watch the spanish version, and run away from the upcoming US remake, which can only end badly :)

Oh, and it scored 7.9 on IMDB so far, look here for the IMDB page.

Cool. I will look for it.

And yes, 9/10 originals are better!

Finally got around to watching this. [Rec] was pretty damn good, and had a couple nice scares. Sure it plodded a bit at the beginning, and the lead character was pretty annoying. Luckily, the lead character's tank top-clad boobs made up for her screechy voice. :)

A couple moments near the end sent shivers, ala The Descent. Good times!

8/10

Looking forward to [Rec]2!

This was remade in the US called Quarantine with the actress that plays Dexter's sister. It was an ok movie. Will have to check out this one as the originals are usually much better.

Yup. I tend to not bother with US remake butchery too much, but will eventually see it. Not sure how they could have improved upon the original! :)
