New patch + full install and the game runs like a dream.

I really regret wasting so much time on Darksiders when I could have been playing this game instead.
I like the puzzles so much more in this game.
They make obvious what they want you to do... but not so obvious how to do it.
Darksiders is the exact opposite.
There wasn't a single puzzle in Darksiders that was challenging beyond figuring out what the fuck they wanted you to do.

Did it automatically let you know there was a patch, and then prompt for a full install?

You've flip flopped on Bayonetta/Darksiders several times.

Nice to see the PS3 version of Bayonetta finally works as intended. Just wait about 30 days for patches.

Is it really that much better?

Typical for PS3... when a game is patched, a message comes up on screen letting you know there's a update available to download. After it downloaded and installed, the game restarted. then I notced an option to install on the menu. So I installed it.

Was a really sloppy port by Sega.
Allegedly the game wasn't using the SPE's, running only on the CPU/GPU.

Huh?

Darksiders only started to grow on me just after I did the Uthane level.
But then it fell back into the rut of tedious puzzles and simple, boring combat.

I've never said anything negative about Bayonetta.
I think it's a ridiculously fun game.

OK, thanks Miir.

I am swapping back and forth between this and Dragon Age so I guess I will get that straightened out next time I pop Bayonetta in.

The 360 had to wait almost 30 days for a Darksiders patch as well.

Not sure if I should be taking you seriously on this. I mean, god forbid the puzzles actually make you think, lol! Are you saying that Darksiders was too difficult for you? I haven't come across anything remotely frustrating in Darksiders yet. Granted, I'm only about 8-9 hours in. Having said that, I cannot even think of a single puzzle that was in Bayonetta.

To each thier own, but I think if Kwon and any other lurkers are going to listen to your complaints about Darksiders, they need to understand that your view on the game is far from the norm. I happen to think it's a AAA title, easily on par with the best games out there. Is it better than Bayonetta? Apples and oranges IMO. I think Bayonetta raised the bar for action games that every future developer out there will have to respond to. However, Darksider's take on the Zelda formula is flawless IMO. Both games set out to accomplish certian things with thier respective gameplay, and I feel both games outperformed my expectations. My only negetive is that I have plenty of action games to play, ala Bayonetta, but I don't have anything comparable to the Zelda clone that is Darksiders. Hence, Darksiders my attention is being pulled more in it's direction.

Out of the two games, I can only imagine Kwon playing Darksiders.

Yeah, it is very Japanezy, but not retardedly so (anime things and pokemans, etc.). It is definately entertaining regardless.

Bayonettea is like a ballet dance of death and violence with a super sexy chick. It is beyond Japanesey. We're talking next level here. In Bayonetta, you do pretty much the same combat and combos from start to finish, non-stop. That isn't a bad thing at all seeing as how the combat is the best I've ever played in an action game. It is the ultimate action game. It never slows down and every other mob is like an end boss in other games. The 60fps fighting is phenomenal, but that is all you do.

Darksiders has an undeniably slower and deliberate pace, but still has heavy and brutal gameplay. The game has a comic book look and feel to it. The puzzles are very rewarding. The story is much more involving and cinematic. I feel like the boss encounters have a far bigger build up than Bayonetta. I like the gameworld better as well. Very vibrant and colorful.

Both have plenty of gore. Both are combo heavy. Both fight angels and demons.

Just knowing what I know about your gaming preferences Kwon, Darksiders should be your first stop when choosing between the two games. But, by all means Bayonetta deserves a playthrough as well.

Thanks Fairweather and Miir!

I still have a hard time deciding between Bayosider and Darkonetta! :D

Or should i just plain wait for GoW 3 lol

All this talk of "puzzles" doesn't sound too much fun.

I just want some decent Melee-combos (with variety)

I think you completely misunderstood my point.
The puzzles in Darksiders are ridiculously moronic.
The only challenge is in figuring out what the fuck they want you to do... which usually took me between 0-2 minutes. The most challenging puzzle took me about 5 minutes of panning the camera around to find out where the fuck they wanted me to put the second portal. For the most part, the puzzles were just mildly tedious... until the last level which ramped up the tedium tenfold.
Running around shooting targets with a portal gun for 30 minutes leading a beam of light back to a main chamber might have been ok if you didn't have to do it 2 more times.

Darksiders has an undeniably slower and deliberate pace, but still has heavy and brutal gameplay. The game has a comic book look and feel to it. The puzzles are very rewarding. Yea it is slower and there's a lot of running around and backtracking.
Heavy and brutal? If you're refering to the combat, it's actually kinda dull. There's lost of combos which are basically pointless. On regular difficulty, I found that every fight could be won by mashing the Square button. I used the 'special' weapons to make it look cooler and make it more challenging but combat is really nothing more than single button masher.

The boss fights are the biggest joke in the game.
Admittedly, they look really fucking epic but the Tiamat fight boiled down to a sticky bomb fight using the boomering you picked up in that level. The Stygian fight was running in circles shooting it with the gun you got in the previous level. Slithia can only be beaten using the hookshot from the grappling hook you got in that level. The Greiver can only be beaten by using the Smashy glove you *surprise* picked up in that level.

I will agree with you that the gameworld looks excellent.
There is great variation in locales and some of the set pieces are just gorgeous.
War's animations are equally awesome eventhough he looks like a WOW reject.

Darksiders is very puzzle heavy.
Of roughly 20 hours gameplay, about 3 hours of it were combat.

Bayonetta is very combat heavy.
Of roughly 20 hours gameplay probably about 14 hours have been combat (and maybe 5 hours of cutscenes, lol)

Really not enjoying the portal gun level at all in Darksiders. And I still have 2 beams to go! Even with a guide (yeah that's right!) it's tedious. I can't imagine doing it without one. Well I can imagine it but it's not a pleasant image.
