Final Fantasy XIV
Not sure how many people have been keeping up but they added a whole bunch of new info and pics to the North America site. I played FFXI on and off and they've definitely made it a bit more newbie friendly in the last year or so. I'm curious to see how they pull everything off for this game and if they've learned from their mistakes of FFXI. The armor/level/weapon system seems kind of interesting at the very least. I'm also looking foward to the return of Nobuo Uematsu in regards to the music of the game.
Right now it seems to be PS3 / PC although they're currently in talks for a 360 port. I guess they're having issues with how it will be handled on live as this game will already require a monthly subscription.

Just got back from an Uematsu concert in Chicago. The man was incredible, and having a choir, symphony, and a rock band playing "One Winged Angel" (Sephiroth's Theme) was enough to strike four thousand people dead. The encore where they played it again killed the rest of the audience. So awesome.

3 Reasons why this game is going to be FUCKING AMAZING
1: Yoshida is doing the artwork for the game (FF Tactics/FFXII)
2: Uematsu is doing the music. Any and every memorable song from practically any game in the series was made by him.
3. Komoto is the director (FFIX)

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Online
I have to say, the music that's on the site now has me absolutely hooked. This may be the game I finally give in and get a PS3 for, as my current computer probably won't be able to run FFXIV all that well. I guess we'll see if I manage to get into the beta. I'm kinda hoping they'll look at my specs and be like "Their's no way his laptop can run it, let's give him his beta key and see."

I signed up early but have my doubts I'll get in. I need to crack the code for what they want in beta testers. I usually say I'm leader of a large guild in case they want "spread the word" type beta players that might talk guild into transferring to new game but when it comes to PC specs, I'm still unsure of how to approach it. I typically give accurate responses but sometimes think it might be better to select some wacky parts to enhance your chances of getting to beta for testing those rarer hardware parts.
I really don't care about accurate answers. These companies use beta entry forms as marketing tools as well so don't feel the need to be honest as they are using the testers for marketing data as much as we're using them for testing/playing. Just check the questions asked. Half have nothing to do with the game or specs. I still give good feedback but typically if a game has any chance of earning my cash, I need to be in the beta.
It's the same with credit card applications. The best answer you can give is that you're retired. I used to put that down on credit card apps when I was 20. Fuck'em! Dirty rat bastards! If they're going to use automated filters to determine eligibility than it's their own fault.
