For the Kevin Smith fans out there, what was your favorite Kevin Smith Movie, and why?

I liked Mallrats or Dogma best.... Mallrats cause Claire Forlani was in it, Dogma cause it's just a great film.

I saw a DVD at best buy the other day that was like 2 discs of interviews with Kevin Smith ... I wanted to get it but didn't have the money since I get paid monthly and I already spent all my cash! >< It was like $22 and was in the 'special interest' section though, if anyone is interested in checking it out.

Clerks by a country mile. The laughs are non-stop and the dialogue is fantastic. I do love all of his movies, but this one is an Indy landmark IMO.

Dogma, mostly for the huge blasts on organized religion, but also for the hysterics. Two thumbs up.

Though I love them all, if I had to pick a favorite, I think it would be Mallrats.

The new DVD that Xou was referring to is "An evening with Kevin Smith", and basically it's Kevin Smith talking to film students.

Kevin Smith just finished a film called "Jersey Girl" with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, George Carlin, Jason Biggs, Liv Tyler, and others. Should be out soon.

Dogma, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy

I'm partial to Mallrats because it was the first one I viewed and thus my first exposure to Kevin Smith's style. His humor is hit and miss with me in all of the films so it's hard to pick a favorite.

Brodie: It's impossible, Lois could never have Superman's baby. Do you think her fallopian tubes could handle the sperm? I gurantee you he blows a load like a shotgun right through her back. What about her womb? Do you think it's strong enough to carry her child?

T.S. Quint: Sure, why not?

Brodie: He's an alien, for christ sake. His Kyrptonian biological makeup is enhanced by earth's yellow sun. If Lois gets a tan the kid could kick right through her stomach. Only someone like Wonder Woman has a strong enough uterus to carry his kid. The only way he could bang regular chicks is with a kryptonite condom. That would kill him!

The Evening dvd is hilarious, I recommend it highly, includes quotes such as
"Grab that mic like a cock and own it"
hehe..
Chasing Amy probably my fav, Hooper-X takes the cake, one of my all time favorite characters. Mallrats 2nd, the rest pretty much tied..

I would hav to go with Mallrats.

If memory serves me, the reviews on it were awful...and I honestly beleive that if you remove that london guy from the cast and replace with someone from the street...then it would have gotten better reviews.

My favorite because it was a small attempt at making a damn funny movie...and it worked. He used all his characters from Clerks successfuly, and implanted so many 'easter eggs' or whatever you call them, into the movie, that it makes it so much fun to watch it for the 100th time.

Kevin Smith is god..or close as I need to soothe my soul:)

Clerks first and foremost for me, I love Randall..
Next is Mallrats..For bringing the world Jason Lee, who is without a doubt one of the funniest people alive.. "That kid is BACK on the esclalator again!!"
Chasin Amy follows..more Jason Lee with a non-asshole Ben Affleck in tow...
Jay and Silent Bob after that...just for wrapping it all up and all the inside references and ELIZA DUSHKU, which makes any movie 100X better..
Last, Dogma.. I like the movie a lot, but it just didn't do it for me as much as the others...

As an aside... I bought Vulgar over the weekend... made by Bryan Johnson of View Askew fame, produced by Smith and Mosier.. one disturbing and odd flick.. stars Dante from Clerks...with fan faves SteveDave and Walt Flanagan...and Ethan Suplee, aka the shit demon and Willem the un-3D-seeing one in Mallrats and Kevin Smith as a gay hollywood producer.. also Jason Mewes makes a cameo as well...and I am sure Derris is in there, but I didn't spot him on first viewing:)

Not sure if I recommend Vulgar, but for a true VA fanatic, its worth getting for the cameos of all the VA people and clown abuse....

hehe Yeah... I haven't seen Vulgar, because I don't know if I could handle it. Howard Stern said it was shocking, and if HE has trouble watching it...

Anyway, I should rent it. Maybe it's not as bad as I'm thinking, and if it is, it's just $4...

Dogma for me probably. It's the one I re-watch most often anyway. Seems to hang together better than the others /shrug.
Clerks blew me away the first time I saw it and is why I like Smith's stuff so much but it looks like what it is: a cheap student film.
Chasing Amy is largely great but the big confrontation scene where Adams and Affleck just scream at each other makes me cringe now. Probably because the acting isn't great and the scene starts off at "hysterical screaming" pitch and tries to go on from there. 10 mins later they're still at it and almost hoarse. . .

J&SBSB was a hoot but some of the humour is too forced and it stands too much on the shoulders of the other films to deserve much relative credit.
MallRats just looks cheap and nasty and the whole thing is too much of a hit-and-miss affair for my liking.
