November 09 NPD's!!

Post by Animalor »

Here's the console shakedown.

* Nintendo DS - 1,700,000
* Wii - 1,260,000
* Xbox 360 - 819,500
* PlayStation 3 - 710,400
* PSP - 293,900
* PlayStation 2 - 203,100
I have no clue how Microsoft wound up on top here. Might have been additional sales from the bannings, crazy deals from WalMart and the MW2 bundle. Regardless, 100K+ units sold isn't a small number.

Software
01. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360) - 4,200,000
02. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) - 1,870,000
03. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii) - 1,390,000
04. Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360) - 794,700
05. Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360) - 744,000
06. Wii Sports Resort (Wii) - 720,200
07. Wii Fit Plus (Wii) - 679,000
08. Assassin's Creed II (PS3) - 448,400
09. Dragon Age: Origins (Xbox 360) - 362,100
10. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 315,000
Microsoft owned this one yet again. Multi-platform titles outsold by a factor of 2-1 for MW2 and slightly under that for AC2.

A seriously crazy month overall.

Wow, crazy numbers all around. L4D2 has smaller numbers than I expected. MW2 on 360 is just a holy shit amount of sales.

I'm not really surprised to see the 360 beating the PS3 again.

Microsoft seemed rather pleased with the NPD figures for November, citing the move of 819.5K units and calling it the “best-ever November in Xbox 360 history”, repeatedly.
The Seattle giant was also pleased with Modern Warfare 2 selling 4.2 million units on the console beating out the PS3 version by more than two-to-one.
It also brought up the fact that more than 5.2 million multiplayer hours on XBL were logged playing Modern Warfare 2 on the first day alone – which scrambles our brain to be honest.
Xbox 360 also led games sales in November, with four of the top ten console games with third party titles selling “more on Xbox 360 last month than on the other current generation platforms combined.”
Assassin’s Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, and Dragon Age: Origins rounded out 360 versions on the NPD top ten and it was the company’s “best-ever November for game sales, reaching $514 million in total sales”.
Consumers also spent a whopping $838 million on 360 hardware, software and accessories, adding to the stellar month for Microsoft.

According to this Metacritic reference, Wii has the shittiest games.

http://kotaku.com/5423709/metacritic-na ... rm-of-2009

A lot of people shop at Wal Mart but the items at Wal Mart aren't necessarily the best.

PS3 is ranked slightly higher in Metacritic than 360 but that has to do with people being so shocked when anything playable comes out on the PS3 that they overreact and rate it too high. see: Resistance/Resistance 2

360: Best Online, Best Games (God of War Collection being rated 94 for the PS3? Please, that's rigged), Best UI, Best store, Best controller (by far), best frame rates for exact same games, easiest to program for, for fuck's sake, I could go on forever.

The worldwide numbers paint a different picture.

That might be relevant... If we were discussing worldwide numbers.

Because sales outside of the US, don't count...

They are not counted in the numbers released by NPD and that is what is being discussed (except by Winnow who went off topic). Do you see them anywhere in the above posts? I'm going to say... Nay!
