Post by Jarori Bloodletter »

Ive never made them myself before last night but OMG yummies..

•4 (1/2 pound) beef Top round (have the butcher tenderize them )
•* 2 cups all-purpose flour
•* 2 teaspoons baking powder
•* 1 teaspoon baking soda
•* 1 teaspoon black pepper
•* 3/4 teaspoon salt
•* 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
•* 1 egg
•* 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™)
•* 2 cloves garlic, minced
•* 3 cups vegetable shortening for deep frying OR can use (Lard)

1.1. Pound the steaks to about 1/4-inch thickness (if you had the butcher tenderize them you wont have to do this step)
2.. Place 2 cups offlour in a shallow bowl.
3.Stir together the baking powder, baking
4.soda, pepper, and salt in a separate shallow bowl; stir in the
5.buttermilk, egg, Tabasco Sauce, and garlic.
6.Dredge each steak first in the flour, then in the batter, and again in the flour.
7.Pat the flour onto the surface of each steak so they are
8.completely coated with dry flour.
9.Heat the shortening (Lard) in a deep cast-iron skillet to 325 degrees F
10.(165 degrees C).
11.Fry the steaks until evenly golden brown, 3 to 5
12.minutes per side. fried steaks on a plate with paper towels
13.to drain.

You can use Saltine crackers, crushed, beat with a rolling pin etc ( after dredging in flour then egg ) I did it added a more crunchy crust heh

Damn good for my first try, for the gravy i used the McCormic's packaged "WHITE" gravy pic included
go hawks?~
