With the exception of Resident Evil, I can't think of any movie adaptation of a video game that hasn't sucked donkey balls.

While I agree that there haven't been (m)any good video game movies, I can't recall an adaptation that would have as robust a universe as Warcraft's to work with or a director that has made movies so embraced by video game fans (Evil Dead, Spiderman franchises).

I will hold out hope that this could be an exception to the rule.

But really.. My thoughts aren't really that different than were expressed by people in the 2 threads about an EverQuest movie.. Just don't see the point.

Here
and here!

sounds like a WoW one will probably be out before an EQ one ever gets made though

I would have liked it if Vin Diesel was in it. 8)

This movie should be shot in 480i to save money considering how crappy the WoW graphics are. lets not fool the audience into thinking WoW looks good!

The Wii should heavily sponsor this movie and set up a bundle deal with the movie. The Crap-pack 480.

This could be cool. Keep in mind this is not called "World of Warcraft", it's just "Warcraft" and they could translate one of the single player stories onto the big screen. With Raimi at the reins I wouldn't be surprised if they go with the Arthas/Lich King story(lots of zombies and other evil, dead things). It's an epic tragedy story and could make a good film.

Maybe it will almost be as good as the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons movie!!! If they go epic out of the gates they are asking for failure in my opinion.

I think they need to focus one of the existing, epic story lines instead of a ragtag party of adventurers. Lots of talent involved in this though, so I'm optimistic.

Remember the epic war movies like Midway where they focused on different areas of the same war and how they all came together in the last epic battle? That is what I thought of when I read your post Fair.
