McNamara dead

This would be bigger news if it wasn't for the slew of recent deaths and the speculation surround soon-to-be ex-Gov Palin. Still, I read McNamara was the longest serving defense secretary ever. He was quite intelligent. Through the turn of the century, he maintained his wits. If you ever get the chance, rent Fog of War. It's a sad documentary about McNamara and the Vietnam War. It is stupendous film, illustrating his stubborn genius that led the U.S. into one of the most disastrous conflicts in our country's brief history.

Also, if I remember correctly, he was one of the war architects that called for the A-bombing of Japan. Not 100% sure on that though.
