The AP was reporting it as a suicide. A person at the hotel told the reporter that they couldn't identify the guest, but a guest had committed suicide. According to the article, he hanged himself with a cord from the room's curtains. It's still under investigation. He was in Bangkok shooting a film.

Pretty clear it was a suicide. He has suffered from depression and overwhelming shyness throughout his life and had done pretty darn well in overcoming it. He was a very compassionate and thoughtful person. Sad to see him go out like this after all he accomplished.
