"Bill Maher's take on the current state of world religion."
Directed by the same guy that directed Borat. It looks hilarious.

Re: Religulous
At the risk of offending the thin-skinned jesusy folks like last time a religious-related topic came up ("OMG we get it, blah blah blah"), I've been looking forward to this for the last few months. I know a lot of people don't care for him, but I've always liked Maher's humor.

I hope Larry Charles is known for a lot more than simply that dude who (unfortunately) directed Borat.

Re: Religulous
I'm sure I'll like this, despite the fact that it's directed by the dude that did Borat. The director didn't have much to do with why I didn't like that movie, it had everything to do with the dude that played Borat just not being funny in anything I've ever seen him in.

Re: Religulous
Shitty "documentary". I really wanted to like it, but it's just Maher doing his regular routine in front of people who disagree with him instead of his usual crowd. And when someone does the same thing to him (weirdo rabbi holocaust denier guy) he leaves. What the fuck? Can dish it out, but can't take it?
A very unfulfilling movie, no dramatic structure, no point.

Re: Religulous
Like I said before, I was really looking forward to this film, and I wanted to like it. I thought it was a fun movie on some levels, but was mostly disappointed. I think that Dawkins' "Root of All Evil", Pelosi's "Friends of God" or even that amateurish documentary "The God Who Wasn't There" all did a better job with the subject. Maybe it's because it didn't show me anything new, but other than a few funny bits scattered throughout, this one just didn't click for me.

Re: Religulous
I anticipated a documentary with Bill Maher being Bill Maher. That's what I got, so I enjoyed it.

Re: Religulous
I enjoyed it, but also realize it is just a slanted view, like a Michael Moore documentary (with less whining).
While there were certainly some funny parts, it is just a 1-sided view, like just about every other "feature documentary".
