I'm torn...

Between just linking the article and commenting on how shitty these workers are as humans, or joining their ranks by making a really bad subject header that reads something like "I am Jack's developmental disorder."

mental health hospitals are real messed up in TX right now. a few months ago, a report was released that found more than 50 patinents (inmates? i dunno what you call them) died last year as a result of the agency's actions.

things were just as bad at Texas Youth Commission about 3 years ago. that's the agency that handled juvenile jails. they found the facilities were terrible and numerous people with sketchy backgrounds (IE sex offenders and felons) were on staff. Texas is pretty screwed up.

but our economy is doing alright compared to other places at least!

The Texas State Hospital system has been decades behind other states in handling the people it serves. When I moved back from Kansas, I looked into getting into the same line of work I had been involved in for several years which would have been at one of these facilities. I toured the place after an interview, and they wanted me to start the next day. I refused because of the conditions for both the residents and care-givers. This was back in 97-98.
