Who do you honestly think will be the next President?

Post by Nick »

Winnow thinks McCain will win, Asheran thinks Obama is the man for the job.

What do you think?

All the polls point to a comfortable Obama victory on the 4th November. A landslide, if you will.

Will latent underlying racism foil Obama's chances? Will the Palin driven incitement of violence have any effect? Will McCain ever win one of the debates?

Who do you think will be the man elected as next President of the United States, given the radically violent elements now surfacing in the McCain camp, the racist neanderthals intent on denying Obama the presidency at all costs, the morons who refuse to acknowledge the basic facts of reality in regards to the campaign and the (to paraphrase Kilmoll) "lazy niggers who are too damned lazy to get out of their goddamn nigger beds" to go vote for Obama on the 4th?

From the start, there have always been two separate but equal questions about race in this election. Is there still enough racism in America to prevent a black man from being elected president no matter what? And, will Republicans play the race card? The jury is out on the first question until Nov. 4. But we now have the unambiguous answer to the second: Yes.

At least you don't have to look at all the flyers saying that if you show up to vote you will be butt fucked by the police if you have any warrants or parking tickets.

They haven't just been around Drexel college. A lot of the poorer neighborhoods in Philadelphia area have had these posted around.

Yes.. But i guess everyone with a parking ticket is a criminal. Just the fear of having to pay a fine when you go to vote is enough of a deterrent in itself without effecting the criminals who were most likely not going to vote anyway.

Your average democrat is fatter and lazier than the average republican. That suggests that more, poorer, fat, lazy, democrats would be likely to park in places where they'd get a ticket for being fat and lazy. The wealthier average republican would more likely have paid their fine if they were caught parking in a handicapped spot in order to zip in and grab some champagne and caviar for the evening's festivities.

Bullshit - there's lots of other Obama supporters in my neighborhood, a predominantly white, middle to upper-middle class suburb of Birmingham, in redder-than-red Alabama. Unfortunately, there's not enough of us to overcome the redneck Jesus freak vote, although I do think that this will be the closest, most "purple" result this state has seen in a long, long time.

As for the flyer campaign to scare potential voters into not voting on election day, it's nothing new, unfortunately. It's one of many shady tactics that have been employed for ages by right wingers to attempt to suppress voting in poor areas.

I was on the fence a couple of months ago, but now I'm optimistic that Obama is going to win. I think the people that are never polled are going to be the ones really making a mark this election. I feel that most of these people will vote for Obama.

As McCain and Palin continue to do nothing but negetive campaigning, they will fall further behind. It's getting worse than ever, and quite frankly, a little frightening.

Dude, unclench your sphincter. You're going to have a hemorrhoid the size of Funk's head before this is all over.

At a guess most people who aren't planning to vote for Obama aren't on the religious fringe. Failing to vote for Obama does not equal pure evil.

I think you woefully underestimate the number of people who vote Republican for purely religious reasons, particularly in this part of the country. You'll note that in my previous comment as well as this one, I'm not talking about every republican in the country, just a huge portion of the republicans in this backwards, retarded state.

Try again. Lopsided support of the Republican party by white, born again evangelicals is well documented.

Here's some data for you. Let me know if you want more or more or more.

I'll concede that perhaps rather than saying "for purely religious reasons," I should have said "for reasons that are heavily influenced by religious beliefs." Regardless, I need look no further than people I know personally to know that there are no shortage of people out there who vote purely on religious grounds. During the primary season, several people I personally know were very vocal about the fact that they were supporting Huckabee purely because he was a "man of God," while at the same time acknowledging that they didn't believe he was the strongest choice among the Republican options. Admittedly, this is anecdotal, but I defy anyone to demonstrate any kind of evidence that this sort of idiot doesn't exist in hefty numbers.

Strictly speaking for myself and those I think I know well enough to make a call, I don't think it's an overriding issue for most people who aren't planning on voting for him, and who would have voted in the election regardless of his candidacy.

At a guess being black will have a more positive effect from disaffected voters showing up to vote than from others showing up to vote to keep him from becoming president just because he's black.

In some areas like the NE and upper Midwest I think it'll be somewhat of a factor, in the rest of the country not so much. Yes there are some serious racists in the south, but not in areas with enough people to matter. It's easier to be a racist in the heavily populated Northern\Midwestern cities were there either aren't any black people, or they live in completely separate areas from you.

I don't think race is nearly the issue the news portrays it to be.

It's an issue, but I don't think a deciding one. Which do you think there are more of that will actually go vote, and wouldn't have voted otherwise if it weren't for race issues? Racists who will vote for Obama solely because of the color of his skin or other racists who will vote against him solely because of it?

(I keep thinking of middle class white kids who are proud of themselves as they have a black friend. As opposed to a friend who happens to be black)

Reverse the situation and think Colin Powell (I'd vote for him) vs. Hilary Clinton or maybe Biden. How many Republicans would switch due to race? Not too many I don't think, and neither would significant portion of black people who would have normally voted Dem.

Hahahaha - thanks for posting that hunk of comedy gold, I hadn't seen it yet. Jesus Christ, Tammy Bruce is a lunatic. The mock outrage that a woman might call another woman a cunt is almost comical. I suppose that she'll be quick to forgive the fact that the genesis for the t-shirt is McCranky calling his wife a cunt and a trollop. I'd be curious to see any evidence to support Bruce's comment, "One of the most popular t-shirts when Barrack Obama was running in the primary season was a t-shirt that said 'bros before hos.'" Further, her allegation that the Obama campaign is planting people in McCain crowds to shout the classless crap commonly overheard from his supporters is A++ number one top quarity wingnuttery.
