Early hulk Reviews Positive

Post by Winnow »

Looks good so far:
“I was afraid going into this movie that the CGI would take me out of the movie, but it never did. The cinematography and CGI were beautifully shot. I loved the Hulk as much in this movie as I did in the comic books. …Ed Norton was incredible as Bruce Banner. But the Hulk? The Hulk truly came to life for me for the first time on film. …Is it as wonderful as Iron Man? No, but it is still a pretty damn good superhero film that continues to give me hope for the future Marvel films in the works.” - CheriBomb
“Really, let’s not even worry about the thin plot, the point of anything Hulk is SMASH! …In short, the geekiest comparison I can make is to Star Trek:consider Ang Lee’s Hulk to be Star Trek:The Motion Picture, a long drawn out effects heavy cerebral film clearly crafted with a fetishistic love; and consider The Incredible Hulk to be The Wrath Of Khan:shorter, faster, pure ass kicking all the way through.” - The Human Burrito
“The Incredible Hulk fucking rules. …Every bit as good as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk takes the material we all love, gets at the heart of what makes it tick and then puts it on the screen FOR ADULTS. It’s dark. It’s heavy.”
“Except for one or two quiet moments shared by Banner and his girlfriend while on the lam, Incredible Hulk doesn’t waste a single frame on dull talky exposition. It is all plot-driven and action-filled. In fact, unlike the much-hyped Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Incredible Hulk never runs out of steam.” - Sci-Fi Movie Page
“It’s pretty awesome and that’s coming from a girl. The teaser at the end got me really excited too.” - Alana Taylor, Journalist, NYC

I'm expecting good things. It's getting good buzz. However, the awful taste of the first movie is still fresh in everyone's mouth, so I doubt it will produce fantastic box office numbers. It sounds like what people were expecting from the first Hulk. Too bad the Norton/studio disagreement took some wind of this movie's sails.

I doubt I'll go see it in theaters, but it's a must buy on dvd for me.

I predict the same thing about the next Punisher movie as well. It will be better than the first, but people won't take thier chances again.

It's too bad there's such a major downgrade in babeage in this one. Jennifer Connelly is a goddess, and Liv Tyler looks... odd.

Jennifer's getting up there in age and has two kids (37, not really that old actually!) but she has/had the best natural breasts in Hollywood. Google image her name and they'll show up.

She swears they're real and I believe her!

Rumor is she had breast reduction surgery.

I don't mind big eyebrows either (hate over plucked, drawn on eyebrows!) as long as she plucks between the eyes!

I didn't know Connelly was married to that guy from A Knight's Tale:

Rumor has it that Captain America is making an appearance in the new Hulk movie: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080607-CapHulkfilm.html

The weapons that General Thunderbolt's team uses to battle the Hulk are made by Stark Industries. Stark is set to make an appearance as well.
More added to the above spoiler.

Edit: Mine sure isn't much of a spoiler The ad I saw for the Hulk on Fox tonight started with Stark talking to Thunderbolt :P

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 has been announced and they have said the Cival War storyline will be a strong element. While you may not get the movie, giving the smackdown yourself has to sound somewhat appealing!

Put me in Caps corner as well! The Captain America that died recently was a scrull, clone or something else! Looks like the recent Iron Man was a scrull as well! We'll have to wait until things settle down and have those two go at it.

It's because he doesn't know how to FIGHT!
[Show]
I really like the flashback in one of the Ultimates books (I think) about how Cap takes Clint/Hawkeye's bow, breaks it and then beats his ass telling him he's going to teach him how to fight so well that his bow will be the last thing people remember about him. I thought that was cool.

Just got home from an afternoon showing. I was worried about the CGI going into it, and I only really noticed a couple scenes where it felt like it was poorly edited. Overall, I enjoyed it, and I am looking forward to the upcoming movies even more.

Not sure how "spoilerish" this is, but....
[Show]
There was no scene after the credits. Stark shows up to talk to Gen. Ross about forming "a group" in a bar as the final scene of the movie before the credits rolled. I didn't notice anything having to do with Captain America during the film, but I also didn't catch his shield in Iron Man.
Oh, and I loved it when:
[Show]
The Hulk yelled "HULK SMASH!" as he kicked it into another gear while fighting the Abomination.
[Show]
You didn't click on the above spoiler...did you? I hope you didn't get TOO curious about it~!

Very entertaining flick. I can't really imagine better adaptation for Hulk. It doesn't have the depth of some other comic movies, but I didn't go to see depth...I went to see Hulk SMASH!! It exceeded my expectations in that department and it's up there with the better comic films.

I had only minor issues with some of the CGI, particularly some milliseconds of Abomination. It can always be better, but Hulk looked very good and entirely badass throughout.

P.S. Iron Man was pure greatness. Canelek is a crazy poo face.
[Show]
The cameo by Tony Stark at the end was perfect. So far Marvel is doing an excellent job with the Avengers build up. Also, the short glimpse of the transformation of Samuel Sterns into Leader was brilliant. The sequel should be fun!

Apparently this:
[Show]
There were 70 minutes of footage cut from the movie which are said to be appearing on the DVD/Blu-Ray. Part of that 70 minutes is:

Desperate Bruce travels to the Arctic and tries to kill himself. It is here that the film briefly crosses over into showing Captain America (it's unclear if he sees a body or something to that effect).

You really are a self-centered asshole.

Given that it was spoiled that it was in the movie, the fact that it's not makes it a SPOILER.

If it ends up being on the fucking DVD because the producer was misquoted or not actually quoted at all, it's a SPOILER.

Given that every post treated it as such except for yours, you are a GIANT FUCKING ASSHOLE. (which incidentally isn't a revelation)

Oh, and before you break your keyboard in an effort to tell me what an asshole I am, THAT ALSO isn't a revelation. I'm just an asshole to individuals like you and not to everyone at large.

I'm really enjoying your virtual temper tantrum, but you don't have a leg to stand on with your little rant.

You cannot spoil something that isn't even in the fucking movie. It's pretty cut and dry. I'm dispelling a rumor that is related to the film. So go kick your feet and cry about something else.

Also, Superman is not going to show up in the new Batman movie. Sorry, I guess I should've spoilered that :(

Once again, YOU do not know if it actually is or is not in the movie. You're going on one quote that you found somewhere on the Internet, congrats! It's entirely possible that they DID film it, and that your quote is total bullshit and it will appear on the DVD. Given that I have yet to see your quote anywhere on the various sites I checked out this morning.

Also, given that the DIRECTOR was quoted multiple times saying it WAS in the film... I'm pretty sure the director knows what's in the film.

Once again, stop being a self-centered asshole ALL the fucking time.

All of the sites I checked yesterday indicated that it was either going to be in the cut that was released to the public (not the copies sent to reviewers), or it was being released as an additional feature on Blu-Ray (not DVD).

Since Fairweather's first spoiler post, he's downloaded 56 GB of data and deleted 23 GB of it while announcing to the world it's his god given right to max his connection at all times even while all the major ISPs are beginning to set caps specifically due to his group of .01% uncaring fools that just don't get it.

With my recently upgraded bandwidth I can download 192 GB/day and upload 38 GB/day. I could leech 5,700 GB in a month! Why don't I? 99% of the people on this board can figure that out.

It was a spoiler. Caps shield didn't appear in trailers for Iron Man but showed up in the same scene in the final release. Same could have happened in the Hulk movie.

Newsarama wrote:By Newsarama Staff

Buzz up!

As we reported last weekend, Captain America was at one time slated to make an appearance in this weekend’s The Incredible Hulk film, thus tying the Hulk franchise to the forthcoming Captain America film franchise, and also, reportedly to the Iron Man film franchise.

spoilers ahead

But he’s not.

In an interview with G4, director Louis Leterrier said that a Captain America cameo was in the film, something which those who’ve seen early screeners were not able to confirm. In speaking to SOS Hollywood, Leterrier confirmed that Cap has been removed from the final cut of the film. According to the director, Bruce Banner heads to the Arctic Circle in a Frankenstein-esque trek to kill himself. Footage of “Bruce of the North” has indeed been seen in the trailers for the film. The segment of the film was, according to Leterrier, very dark, and thus, to make the film more suited for younger audiences (Hulk is rated PG-13), it was cut. Thing is, that portion of the film contained the Captain America sequence.

“Having that said, when Bruce arrives at his destination he meets up with Captain America!,” Leterrier told SOS Hollywood. “At some point this week, we will make it available on the internet – but I cannot tell you where or when – and the material will definitely be on the DVD.”

Meanwhile, as the latest Hulk television spot has revealed, Tony Stark (as Robert Downey Jr.) does appear in the film, conferring with General Thunderbolt Ross.

So what does this mean for the building of Marvel's "Avengers" film franchise and its intent of building a cohesive universe of superhero films? Probably nothing. Future films can easily refer back to the Hulk/Bruce Banner as they come out, and, as we saw in Iron Man, worlds of content, continiuty and connection can be transmitted via Easter Eggs.
I think I'll rely upon Newsarama quoting the director for information instead of your self-centered, condescending, pompous ass.

It was OK.

I thought the beginning dragged a bit although there were a couple good lines/scenes in there.

I'd like to see some well known villains in these movies. The X-Men and Spiderman movies (even Daredevil) manage to give us multiple well known villains. I'd like to see Iron Man and Hulk do the same.
[Show]
Did Betty Ross sleep with the Hulk? In the cave scene she wakes up with her arm around Ed Norton, looking like she just went a few rounds in the sack. Later on she appears disappointed that Norton can't satisfy her and seemed to want the Hulk's mass back to do the job.

I thought it was a pretty fun movie. It was better than I expected, that's for sure. This movie is a good example of bad press and run in not really meaning much in the final product. It's doing well at the box office, so that is a huge relief for fans of the character and sequel hopes.

I will also go on the record as saying I did not hate the Ang Lee Hulk. It was just different (too different for most!). This Hulk movie is much more in line with what one would expect from such a character. I am intrigued by a director's cut with 70 additional minutes of film. That would almost double the length of the theatrical version, which I thought had a pretty tight cut. Adding 70 minutes would seem to take it more into Ang Lee territory with too much talking, not enough smashing!

The Ang Lee Hulk-movie could have been MUCH better if the Main Antagonist was General Ross + Talbot, The Leader or Abomination instead of adding those mutated dogs and Hulks papa.

Even Crusher Creel Absorbing Man, Tyrannus or even The Rhino as main villain would have made it a better movie.

Hulk-audience want to see big fights, the desert-scene in Ang Lee's Hulk was a step in the right direction but it was too little too late.

Ang Lee's Hulk-movie was just too emo for the general "HULK SMASH"-fan.

This Hulk movie looks much better, especially since they use my favorite Marvel-villain Abomination!

If the Hulk in this one were to fight Ang Lee's version, I think Ang Lee's would destroy him. Both portrayed sheer brutality very well, but the first Hulk was just more angry IMO. And as everyone knows, an angry Hulk is the best Hulk! I also liked how he grew a little each time he got more angry in the first one. I thought that was a great touch.
