Cross another one off for natural selection...

Post by valryte »

A teenager was decapitated by a roller coaster after he hopped a pair of fences and entered a restricted area Saturday at Six Flags Over Georgia, authorities said.

Six Flags officials are uncertain why the unidentified 17-year-old from Columbia, S.C. scaled two six-foot fences and passed signs that said the restricted area was off-limits and dangerous to visitors, spokeswoman Hela Sheth said in a news release.

Authorities were investigating reports from witnesses who said the teenager jumped the fences to retrieve a hat he lost while riding the Batman roller coaster, said Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce. Police have declined to release the teenager's name until an autopsy is completed.

Anyone taking bets yet whether or not the parents will try to sue the amusement park?

If they do, I hope the riders sue the parents for their son endangering their lives!

I love how the article then goes on to relay all the other accidents that have happened at Six Flags in the last 5 years.

I saw that headline yesterday, and at first went, "oh no!". Then I read the article and went, "oh yes!"

What a fucking idiot.

In May 2002, 58-year-old groundskeeper Samuel Milton Guyton of Atlanta was killed after he wandered in a restricted area under the Batman roller coaster's path and was struck in the head by the dangling leg of one of the ride's passengers. The ride was closed for a day to allow the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration to inspect the ride. It was deemed safe for passengers.
I was there that day and in the line when it happened. I was upset I stood in line for an hour and a half only to be turned away halfway through because something happened.

They told us there was "a flood".

Wasn't that during the CD Meet? I remember some of y'all complaining online before we knew what had caused the delay. I think it was the same one that Expedia screwed my flight up for.

Best I remember (from the recounts obviously) was that not everyone went to Six Flags. The group kinda divided up and did two different activities.

It would be pretty cool to see a PoV cam of that. :) Or, the "after" photo of the people riding in the cars behind.

My dad lives in Atlanta - he said the latest suspicion was that the kid lost his hat while on the ride and was attempting to get it back.

He doesn't need it any more. He has nowhere to put it.
