360 JRPG Carpetbomb..

Post by Animalor »

This was a MS event, most likely to generate buzz in the face of the MGS4 launch this week.

Tales of Verperia coming to the 360 in Jpn in August, no word on the US release date yet.

Star Ocean 4 coming to the 360 in 2009. No word yet in if there's going to be a PS3 version, however no mention of exclusivity either.

Last Remnant will have a worldwide simultanious release on the 360 first. The PS3 version will be coming out at a later date.

Infinite Undiscovery will be released in North America on Sept 2nd, with other regions releasing later in the same week to 10 days.

A lot of good 360 news here. Of course the comments in these threads contain a lot of pised off PS3 gamers accusing MS of tossing the moneybags, 3-4 people still going on and on about the RROD and a whole lot of happy 360 owners.

I'm in the latter. Loves me some JRPG.

What a terrible name.
Undiscovery is not even a word.

I wish I could get excited about it but every RPG out of Japan for the 360 has been bad so far. I think all of like 10 people in Japan actually even play the 360, so I don't know the chances of developers over there actually putting a lot of effort into a 360 game. I was pretty psyched for Lost Oddessy but I could only stand it for about an hour. Enchanted Arms was way better but fell short in a lot of places, especially game length.

It does great on Search engines though..

I hate GameTrailers mostly but here's a few videos.

The Last Remnant

Star Ocean 4

@stragi: Enchanted Arms better than Lost Odyssey? What kind of crack are you smoking..

I've loved the stuff that Mistwalker put out personally. I'm just about caught up to where I was in Blue Dragon before I fucked up and erased my profile and all saved games. The Hard Mode DLC really made this game more interesting to play as well.

I think infinite undiscovery looks good :) I have been keeping an eye on that one since the first trailer came out on the 360 like a year ago.

Great news for 360 owners.

The 360's weakness is becoming a strength. People bitch about RPGs but name all the PS3 JRPGs that are so great.

NONE
NADA
ZIPPO

FFXIII should be good. That's great and all but you might get two or three more FF games in your lifetime before you die of old age.

Just based on these screenshots and nothing else

http://kotaku.com/5015245/microsoft-360 ... travaganza

Star Ocean 4 > Tales of Vesperia > Infinite Undiscovery > Last Remnant

Star Ocean 4 looks the best graphically.
Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant look kind of generic
Tales of Vesperia looks kiddish but has some character to it

I dunno man. LO just isn't fun for me at all. A huge draw for me about JRPGS is the ability to grind and overpower content and LO wasn't very friendly in that regard.

LO was OK. Solid RPG.

Enchanted Arms had potential but the UI was too flawed and I though the chessboard type battlefield should have been larger.

Anyway you slice it, 360 blows the doors off PS3 for RPGs. That was the last great hope for Sony apologists.

You've got a good point there and it's rather funny when you compare LO vs BD in this regard. Blue Dragon was very grind-tastic if you wanted to kill all the bosses.

BD had a fun combat system, so did Eternal Sonata. But I felt terrible playing them. Terrible gay.

Ehh, for now. Folklore is hella solid for the ps3 imo. I sat in EB playing the demo for 2 hours probably.

I tried to play Forklore on the Demo PS3 unit the other day and I couldn't figure out how this worked.

Reflecting upon the controls though, I think the Sixaxis might have been broken..

That game blows. I tried the demo and finally got to a part where you fight sort of and it sucked. That artwork is good but it's all static.

It's like a graphical version of Zork with no camera control when running around most of the time.

Folklore doesn't come near even the worst 360 game (Enchanted Arms)
