Throngs of confused protesters were stranded near the city's waterfront, as the torch was transported across town to another thoroughfare with heavy security. The move further reduced the torch relay, historically a peaceful public relations event for host countries, to a game of cat and mouse between law enforcement and protesters.

Man, who's idea was it, to run the torch through Frisco this year anyways, you know with all the other hullabaloo it's been gettin' in other cities. It's like they was askin for trouble.

I assume the initial scheduling was done well in advance, before anyone guessed the Chinese would go off the rails with a fresh round of repression and crackdowns in Tibet. As for the rest, I say again whats the point? It loses its propaganda value for those assholes (good thing!) when they have to hide it from the protesters like they did.

The whole Olympics is just a propaganda set up for one of the most repressive gov'ts going. I'm not a big fan of the summer games to begin with (most of the events I admire the athetes but find most of the competition boring to watch) so its not like this is "stopping me" from watching them but it is further disincentive. I also love how all the PRC propagandists are flooding any internet and media forum they can to spout the Party line about Tibet being a slave-state before the commies liberated them. And we in the west suck up to the bastards and give the fucks favoured trade status...
