Post who you think will win for each category. Feel free to leave out what you don't care about.

Btw, who in the fuck ranked Surfs Up as Oscar worthy? Jesus. Meet the Robinsons was 10x better than that piece of shit and even that dosen't hold well against the likes of Ratatouille.

There Will Be Blood deserves to win every damn thing it was nominated for (sorry Viggo, Day-Lewis was unbelievably believable), as well as original score. How the hell Jonny Greenwood's score didn't make it up there while 3:10 to Yuma, Ratatouille, or Michael Clayton did is beyond my comprehension. This isn't an attempt to trash those movies, they were great, but I can't recall a single tune or note from any of them. I can still hear TWBB's tense and chilling music echoing in my ears. I can't recall the last time music was so perfect for a film.

Anyway, I'm not good at predicting what the Academy picks (ex. Children of Men not winning cinematography previously - what the fuck?), but I hope Paul Thomas Anderson / TWBB steal the show.

BEST PICTURE
"There Will Be Blood"

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Heart says Viggo, but I expect Daniel Day-Lewis is due, it's been a while since My Left Foot.

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Tricky one, I think this might be where Juno gets the nod, although Cate Blanchett looks good, and lots of people are in awe of her after the Dylan-thing.

DIRECTING
Julian Schnabel for "The Diving Bell And The Butterfly"
Ethan Coen & Joel Coen for "No Country For Old Men"
Paul Thomas Anderson for "There Will Be Blood"
are all equal contenders here.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Javier Bardem for "No Country For Old Men" - HAS to be. ARE YOU LISTENING, MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMY? HAS TO BE.

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Anyone but Cate Blanchett would be a fucking joke.

ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
I'm hoping for Persepolis, but I'm guessing Ratatouille. Both good movies, but one is entertaining fluff, the other is animated artistry.

SCREENPLAY (Adapted)
Ronald Harwood for "The Diving Bell And The Butterfly"
Ethan Coen & Joel Coen for "No Country For Old Men"
Paul Thomas Anderson for "There Will Be Blood"
Again, a tie in my mind. Hoping for the Coens, though.

SCREENPLAY (Original)
Diablo Cody for "Juno"

ART DIRECTION
Not sure, but I'd guess TWBB.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
"No Country for Old Men"

COSTUME DESIGN
"Elizabeth: The Golden Age"

DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
"Sicko"

DOCUMENTARY SHORT SUBJECT
No clue.

FILM EDITING
"No Country for Old Men"

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
For once I haven't seen any of these yet. I'll be back on this!

MAKEUP
Wtf Norbit? Comedy option? Going with La Vie En Rose.

MUSIC (SCORE)
Marco Beltrami for "3:10 to Yuma"
Alberto Iglesias for "The Kite Runner"
James Newton Howard for "Michael Clayton"
can all win.

MUSIC (SONG)
Falling Slowly from "Once"
All the others are fluff.

SHORT FILM (ANIMATED)
Dunno!

SHORT FILM (LIVE ACTION)
Dunno.

SOUND EDITING
"No Country for Old Men"

"No Country for Old Men"

the only opinion i have is:

MUSIC (SCORE)
Dario Marianelli for "Atonement"

I havent seen most of those movies yet, but personally i hope for an oscar for Ellen Paige for Juno. After seeing her acting in Hard Candy i figured she was an upcoming actress, with Oscar potential someday. Didnt think it would be yet though :).
And not, havent seen Juno yet, but i can still hope for it :)

Looking at the list of movies, I've only seen four of them. Juno, Ratatouille, and Transformers/Pirates.

Ellen Page for Best Actress
Ratatouille for best Animated Feature Film!

That's it.

Sweeney Todd is the only movie on the entire list that I've seen.

So... Johnny Depp for best actor?

Saw this last night, and totally agreed on best actor. Day-Lewis was superb. The movie was a lot different than I was expecting, but I really liked it. I didn't see Atonement or Michael Clayton, but I think it probably deserves Best Picture over Juno and No Country, even though I highly enjoyed both of those.

I think I read somewhere that the score was not an original composition for TWBB, which is why it was not qualified to be nominated. Otherwise I'm sure it would have been.

Yeah, I read about that. It's a crock of shit, too. From Wikipedia: "Henry Plainview" and "Proven Lands" feature excerpts from Popcorn Superhet Receiver by Greenwood. That's two tracks of the entire score, both of which only total to 6 minutes, and they feature excerpts from his previously written material. Lame.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Hal Holbrook for "Into the Wild"
Having just finished watching this movie, Hal Holbrook not winning based upon the other movies/actors he was up against is criminal.
