Ed Norton is the new Hulk

Post by Fairweather Pure »

Marvel just confirmed it.

Apparently, the next Hulk will be more Batman Begins / Casino Royale and less Ang Lee-ish.

Since (apparently) audiances no longer care for numbered sequels, the next movie is simply titled "The Incredible Hulk".

On a similar note, the next Superman is going to be called "The Man of Steel", and the next Batman is called "The Dark Knight".

I love Ed Norton, and the Hulk is badass.

I'll likely be seeing this movie.

I hope so. The CGI on the Hulk move was awesome. Everyone was watching Gollum that year but for my money the work on Hulk was just as good.

I'm really not sure about this. Sure Ed Norton rocks, but its Louis Leterrier directing. I thought Transporter 1 was pretty good. Unleashed was awesome but I think he could of done a lot more with it. Probably Jet Li didnt want to do too much. Then I saw Transporter 2, ugh god no.

I hated the CGI in The Hulk. It was way too catoonish. I wish it would go back to more realistic style like back when it was on TV.

Prediction: It will suck. It will suck like the last one sucked. It will suck as much as the next one will suck.

When they've got Hulk bending Spider Man over a garbage can and giving it to him bareback, then it might not suck so much. But Hulk will still be just as ghey as he has always been.

I do know there is a different special effects studio doing the Hulk in this one. It was selected 2 weeks ago I think. I'll post the name if I find it again. I read it in a blurb.

I like all the first Hulk when it actually had the Hulk in it. The rest was a tad drawn out and a little too abstract for a super hero movie IMO. It veered too far from the plain and simple story behind the character. These producers need to learn a simple lesson: do not fuck with the original storyline.

But man, when the Hulk was pissed, it was ON! Eric Bana was good as well.

I agree with the two posts above this.

The main flaw of the film is that the bad guy is shite. And it's a bit too long. Other than that I like it a lot.

Hulk 1

Hulk was good, i'd like to see a similar CGI in Hulk 2, instead of Lou F wearing a wig. Hulk is supposed to be superhumanly massive, not being able to be portrayed by a BB, CGI is the way.

The Bad Guy in Hulk 1 was shite, so was those puppies! :D

Best scene in Hulk was VS the choppers and tanks.

Too little too late tho

Maybe Hulk 2 will deliver! Bring in ABOMINATION!

A CGI-fight for 30 minutes!

The detail of the CGI in the first one was really good, but I think he could've looked a bit more fierce. At times he looked like a giant green baby when not angry or someone in tremendous discomfort/constipated when angry. Also it wasn't violent enough for a Hulk movie and most of the violence was against machines. I want him to do shit like this in the movie:

Will they be using any of the visual effects developed for the first film? "None. No. It's a new Hulk, new direction, new size, new color, new attitude. Anything that was done before is not in this movie. It's a very different kind of Hulk."

So what kind of Hulk is it? "It's more of a love story; it's more of a heroic Hulk. It's a kind of Hulk we loved in the show, so it's kind of more influenced by the show than anything else. It's very human, very touching, and huge action. Louis Leterrier has a unique filming style that will be great here and itÕs going to be spectacular."
Rumors of a "more gray" Hulk are creeping up all over. At the very least, not "as green" as the first.

That's a good question.

The first of his roles that struck me as odd, was when he was in Red Dragon. He pretty much phoned that one in. He was great in Kingdon of Heaven though. I liked him in The Illusionist as well. I don't expect anything great from Pride and Glory, or anything groundbreaking from Hulk.

He's following a similar trend to Matthew Broderick, and this is his Godzilla.

All the greats kinda do some stupid shit. I mean, Deniro was in fucking Bullwinkle!

I remember hearing he had some problems with a studio contract - The Italian Job was a contractual-obligations job and he got flak for phoning in his performance as a result. Perhaps that has something to do with it.
Or perhaps wearing swastika tats for AHX pissed off the jews who control the liberal media.

AHX was a tremendous movie, I haven't watched it in a long time, I should do that again.

Another one that I always really liked Norton in was Primal Fear. He really did well in that movie, and it's the only good Richard Gere movie that I can think of off the top of my head.

I could do with a little more Jennifer Connely, thanks.

ABOM IS IN! ABOM IS IN!

MY FAVORITE VILLAIN!

This movie is a must-see!

But who knew Tim Roth would be able to bulk up to Abomination-size?

That's a Monster bulk up to epic proportions!

Yeah i know, it's gonna be CGI! :)

Weird thing is i thought Abom most definately would be in Hulk 1, i cannot understand why they chose the peculiar "villain" nobody seen in the comics instead.

I do believe this Hulk-movie will be more in my taste with 30 minute slugfests, carnage and total destruction!

Well, we can thank the present CGI-technology for having good actors being able to play huge monstrosities such as these.

Back then you needed to have a big fella in a suit.

Nowadays you can use scrawny tinies playing the Bigshots!

Would've never believed it if someone said that Roth,Danny DeVito,Woody Allen etc would play Abom in the early 90's.

But now, anything is possible.

I'm excited as hell for this. I just think Ang Lee's version was too obtuse for this character. I didn't hate the first Hulk nearly as much as most everyone else though.

Ed Norton is great. Tim Roth is great. The CGI looks great. I think I'll be happy with the end result.

However, right now Ed Norton is fighting with the studio over final cut rights. Norton was brought in with the promise that he would bascally control everything. He rewrote the script and has been hands on through almost every aspect from casting to location shots. He wants a particular cut, and the studio wants another. No one knows what the difference in the cuts are, but it's making some noise in Hollywood.

Norton is pretty vocal about his opinions and caused some turbulence during other films he was in (American History X, Italian Job). Good for him though. Make some noise.

W/out knowing anything about the comic except that he's green and strong, it looks pretty cool. I'll probably rent or on-demand it once it's avaiable.

Did he just fall out of a helicopter high in the sky to the pavement below and then get up? I'm not a comic fanboi, especially Marvel, but since when is Hulk immortal?

From http://www.marvel.com/universe/Hulk
Powers
The Hulk possesses an incredible level of superhuman physical ability. His capacity for physical strength is potentially limitless due to the fact that the Hulk's strength increases proportionally with his level of great emotional stress, anger in particular. The Hulk uses his superhumanly strong leg muscles to leap great distances. The Hulk has been known to cover hundreds of miles in a single bound and once leaped almost into orbit around the Earth. The Hulk has shown a high resistance to physical damage nearly regardless of the cause, and has also shown resistance to extreme temperatures, poisons, and diseases in addition to regeneration of damaged or destroyed areas of tissue at an amazing rate.

The Hulk's body also has a gland that makes an "oxygenated per fluorocarbon emulsion", which creates pressure in the Hulk's lungs and effectively lets him breathe underwater and move quickly between varying depths without concerns about decompression or nitrogen narcosis.

[Show]
Sartori's post already touched on this, but basically Hulk has limitless strength and endurance as well as significant regeneration capabilities (much like Wolverine, another "mortal" who seems to survive virtually everything that comes his way). Though he isn't officially immortal or godly, he does seem to have godlike capabilities in many cases due to anger being his source of power. The longer he fights, the angrier he gets, the better chance he has at winning.

He's fought gods, cosmic heroes/villains, etc. and done more than simply survive such battles.

A fall from a helicopter isn't much for him. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the helicopter drop in the film is a certain military force using him as a 'human bomb' of sorts. He's been used in this way in comics.

The Hulk can pick up Thor's hammer (Mjolnir). That's all you need to know!
During the climactic battle between the Avengers and Hulk in the first movie, Hulk knocks Thor out, and uses the Mjolnir with brute strength alone.
