Major League Baseball 2K8

Post by Tyek »

I was wondering if anyone bought it, or if Sparty had any insight on the developers thoughts of the game. I liked last years offering. It had flaws, but I enjoyed it. The reviews for this one seem like it might be actually worse. I would love a good baseball game, but do not see wasting 60 bucks to find out if it is good. The lack of media attention before the release and the lack of a review or demo have me nervous.

I am fairly certain Sparty moved on before he would have been working on this title.

Tyek I'd suggest buying it with ZERO expectations... They actually did worse with this game than 2k7... There are MAJOR flaws with it.. Honestly theres too many to list right there.. I was playing with my friend last night and today and it almost got us to the point where we were going to bring it back to best buy. The only two things that are actually positive about it are the pitching and the home run derby. The pitching takes some getting used to. But once you get it figured out, its actually quite fun and rather satisfying.

One huge flaw that will pretty much seal the deal for anyone that cares about graphics. Its incredibly shakey. The frame rate at times is as I saw on a review of the game almost seizure inducing.

We tried to get on Live to play someone and it wouldn't even connect us to live. Which was a joke.

Like I said, buy it because its the only baseball game on 360 this year. But it really was a major disappointment. I'm rather upset that I've been anticipating this game since november and got such a piss poor product in return.

Really wish I could vent to a dev. of this game and try to get their reasoning on it.

On a lighter note, the graphics look great as expected. If they would have focused more on the actual game play and not making sure you can see how clearly the garbage is on the ground, I would have been more impressed.

It's old, but the BIGS is a lot of fun... especially the homerun pinball mini-game!

I am confused. Were you talking about two different games?

Homerun derby was like the only reason I played this game. That said, I played the fuck out of it.

Wow.. I just reread what I wrote and it looks retarded..My apologies.. Lets see if I can make it more understandable lol.

The actual look of the game is great.. The graphics, the players, the stadiums etc. look great. But its incredible laggy. Best example would be after getting a hit and going back to the next batter. Instead of a smooth transition the game kinda freezes on the fielder then all of a sudden just goes directly to the batter in the box. Just poor frame rates to best put it.

Hope that makes it mroe understandable. Like i said its still a fun game, I just bought it today and plan on playing because its the only baseball game for 360 this year and I need my fix. But they took a big step backwards in the progression of this series.

Well, I rented it and could not get through one game. The stutter on fielding is unwatchable and makes playing almost painful. Guess I will be sticking with 2K7.

If you sign out of Xbox live it fixes some of the frame rate issues. 2k apparently is going to release a patch soon to fix it.

After playing it for a week and tweaking the settings a little bit I gotta say it isnt that bad. The choppiness is a big downside but the hitting/pitching isnt as rough as it first was.. The little things are annoying but dont make the game unplayable. I tried to play on Live once so far and it was too laggy and made the game impossible to play so I quit. Hopefully the patch will fix that.

I'm going to wait for the patch. The choppy framerate was brutal to watch. It made it really hard to play through. I already returned the game since I was not going to play it again.
