3:10 to Yuma

Post by Winnow »

It's got Christian Bale and Russell Crowe as the lead actors but it's only an average flick in IMO. Their acting was OK but not enough to carry the movie. Wash from Firefly has a small role in it! He did well.

I thought it was going to be something along the lines of The Unforgiven in realism but it's more like Rambo with bullets flying everywhere in some scenes.

It's just complete bullshit that one man with a six shooter and a shotgun can escort a prisoner 1/2 mile with 30 armed men trying to kill you waiting right outside a hotel when you leave.
The ending 30 minutes are pretty bad. The whole thing seemed contrived in a bad way.

6.5/10 (nowhere near the quality of a movie like The Unforgiven)

Worth downloading or watching on a movie channel, but not a keeper.

Just finished watching this. Although the movie was pretty decent (direction, art direction and sound were all top-notch), I agree with Winnow--it was a bit contrived and the story was full of holes (well, the script was, but the action was all A-Team bullets).

Crowe and Bale were excellent, in their own ways.

6/10 for being pretty.

I'll pass on the "release date buy" and keep an eye out for a $9.99 or less sale. Those sales are popping up more and more on newer releases.

That is a high-water mark, Fair. I would buy at 6.99, unless you get free shipping.

I buy all mine at Best Buy, usually the day they are released. I think I may have orderd 5-6 movies of my entire collection online.

I've bought worse for more, trust me!

I have not seen a 9.99 new release at Best Buy in years! I do miss SuperBit releases for that price though.

Man, I see them ALL THE TIME. It's really noticable due to the fact that I just paid 15-16$ a couple of weeks prior and now it's under 10$. I've changed my buying habits because it's happening so much. I prioritize my dvd purchases a lot more now.

Always go SuperBit for that price, unless you love extras. A stripped-down DVD, no extras, with solid DTS sound is the shit.

I hated the ending. It ruined the whole movie for me, actually. Why would one little sob story turn Wade's whole view on life and himself around to the point where he'd shoot his friends who came to rescue him? It was fucking corny -- unless I missed something major along the way... it was just dumb. Not to mention Wade had a thousand chances to escape from that guy (Can't recall his name) while they were running, instead he lead the way? Stupid. It would have been a better ending if he just beat the snot out of him, had his boys shoot him and maybe the guys son shot wade as he rode away or something. Ugh.
Very sorry for using 'quote' instead of 'spoiler' tag guys, thanks for telling me Boog

I didn't mind the ending. I didn't think it was corny in the least. At least as far as the character interaction between the two. The 'action' itself I didn't much care for.

I thought it was beautifully filmed. Great cinematography throughout.

I didn't think Bale was particularly impressive, Russell Crowe was pretty fantastic though. I wish he did more movies. He may be batshit insane, but he is a quality actor all the same.

The film was reasonably good, but nothing amazing. I pretty much agree with Aslanna.

I enjoyed it, but like others I did not understand why Crow's character would care whether Bale delivered him to the train. He even saw the others respected how far Bale had brought him, so it made no sense to me.

I really enjoyed Bale in the movie, I think he is great in everything he does. It was interesting to see a different type of tortured soul then the psycho's he plays in several of his roles.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that.
