Justice League
Weta Workshop is doing the costume design and special effects for the film. Casting has started and rumors are still flying for various parts. Apparently, Brandon Routh (who was in Superman Returns) will not be playing the superman in the film, nor will Christian Bale be playing Batman. I'm a Marvel man at heart, but I am excited about the prospect of seeing how all these great super heros work as a team. Let's hope that Marvel's Avengers will be a good match to the Justice League flick.

Re: Justice League
Kind of surprising seeing as that pre-production has been going on for months. The IESB reports that Warner Bros.' planned "Justice League" feature film project could be cancelled in spite all the pre-production work that has already taken place at Sydney's Fox Studios.
A source tells the site that "Justice League is indeed in danger of not starting production on time, and maybe even getting scrapped altogether. The concerns are that the script is not ready to go in front of cameras, and also that the budget is getting a bit out of control."
The ongoing writer's strike means script issues are proving impossible to resolve, whilst studio execs are apparently "not happy with the actors brought in to play the superheroes, calling them "mediocre" at best".
Both "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns" directors Chris Nolan and Bryan Singer have both been against the project from early on, the only thing giving people faith so far has been acclaimed director George Miller's involvement - but is it enough?
In any case production on 'League' has now apparently been pushed back to at least April, if it's ever going to go forward at all

Those are all GREAT reasons to cancel it. I wish more movies were canceled for that reason. If the script sucks, and you have shitty actors, what's the point? Why make a movie that's destined to fail?Fairweather Pure wrote:The IESB reports that Warner Bros.' planned "Justice League" feature film project could be cancelled in spite all the pre-production work that has already taken place at Sydney's Fox Studios.

The budget doesn't surprise me at all. Any multi-hero movie is going to have a bigger budget than a single hero movie.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

Re: Justice League
This has now been canned due to script issues and the fact that WB did not get a tax break they were hoping for at a potential shooting location. Chris Nolan is pretty happy about it since he's been vocally against JL since it's initial talks. Nolan was even rumored to say he would be unwilling to shoot a 3rd Batman if JL were to be made.
This was going to be the tentpole summer release in '09 for WB, so there is now a pretty big window open in the summer schedule. People are already starting to wonder what will fill the vacancy left by the cancellation of JL.
