How much do you spend on gifts?
How much do you spend on gifts?
To clarify... This includes regulars, like aunts, grandmothers, nephews, friends, etc. Not included are girlfriends of the month or any other gift given non-perennially.

Yeah, need a more direct question. If it's per person, it varies greatly as to who they are and what relation they have to me.

The title of the poll is "per Christmas" so I assume he means total spent yearly.

Yeah I didn't read it like that, I probably should have. I went with the $25-50 because I was thinking per person. My fucking brothers and sisters need to stop popping out babies.

Good poll. I would guess it's 2-300, but is probably more. I don't really think about it because I buy a gift here and there prior to X-mas.

In that case, it's well over $300 on my wife and kids alone; not to mention extended family.

Re: How much do you spend on gifts?
Christmas is mostly for kids (the gifts part). I enjoy the idea behind exchanging gifts but it's really a pain imo buying for adults. Kids are easier. They want that specific Red Ryder Ranger BB Gun or something else that is easy to figure out.
For adults, go with the Best Buy Gift Cards or some other gift card you know they'll take advantage of and buy themselves something they'll really like. Of course, if you know the person really well (a spouse or gf/bf), you can go with gifts that are more meaningful.
So, set a limit. 100, 200, 500, buy Best Buy gift cards, and exchange them on Christmas. Even better would be to just exchange however many dollars you deem each person worthy of. At the end of the gift giving, everyone has cash to go buy what they really want or to put toward what they want. (hint: screw the gifts and just enjoy the holidays with your family and friends) Our economy would collapse, but it's the best way!
I don't care about receiving gifts myself. It's more about trying to make people happy that care about Christmas. If I know one of my relatives kids wants something in particular. I'm going to get it. (unless it's an Apple product)

Re: How much do you spend on gifts?
I only buy gifts for my two brothers, my mom and dad, and my girlfriend. Between them I spend between 400-600.
Re: How much do you spend on gifts?
Less than I'd like to, and more than I can afford to.
Shoestring monthly budget with a non-working wife sucks. I get tired of "Don't get us anything, as we can't reciprocate, maybe something for Alannah" type conversations. I used to like Christmas and now I find myself dreading it every year, although it's fun to see Alannah play with her new toys.
