XBox 360 HD DVD + 5 Movies = $180?
I read last night that the external HD DVD drive for the 360 is going to drop to $179.99 and will come with 5 HD DVD movies (I assume you pick from a list). I like this direction, even if I'm not going to bite until I get my big screen TV. The article (via Kotaku I believe) also mentioned how Blue Ray is doing much better than HD DVD currently. That's one debate that won't end any time soon, but I'm glad to see the prices going down.

Isn't there something about the add on HD DVD that if you don't have the Elite version that your not getting true HD out of the player or something? I thought I read somewhere in another thread that you need the Elite to get the full potential out of the dvd player add on... anyone know anything about that?

Lack of HDMI maybe? Dunno.Kryshade wrote:Isn't there something about the add on HD DVD that if you don't have the Elite version that your not getting true HD out of the player or something? TrueHD is a Sony-created buzzword to pimp out their 1080p TV's and 7.1 audio systems and the PS3 with HDMI.
They have been touting the TrueHD a lot less when MS started supporting 1080p on all 360's with the software update and then the Elite. (There quite a few limitations on 1080p with the non-HDMI 360's because of DRM and copyright issues)
