A man is perusing the stalls at a livestock auction, when he hears a voice whisper behind him “psssst, hey buddy! Buy me!” He turns around, but the only thing there is a rather scruffy looking donkey. The man figures he’s just imagining things, and starts looking around again. Again he hears behind him “hey buddy! You really wanna buy me!” He turns around again, and just like before, the only thing there is this donkey. He figures “what the heck” and says “are you talking?” The donkey peers up and down the stalls to make sure no one is around, and then simply nods. The man thinks, “wow… a talking donkey. I can make a fortune with that bugger!” and goes and buys the donkey from the seller outright. The man starts taking the donkey to all kinds of local fairs and shows, exhibiting his “talking donkey”… for a fee, of course. People came and listened to the donkey, and they were amazed and amused at first, but the donkey never said anything funny. In fact he usually sounded like he was quoting Gandhi. Nothing but boring ‘wise-man’ statements. The man’s audiences got smaller and smaller as word got around about his “boring donkey”. The man finally started getting desperate and frustrated, and tried to sell the donkey, but no one wanted to buy him. Finally the man shot his talking donkey and claimed the insurance money. The moral to this story?

No one likes a wise ass.
