Overlord (Xbox 360 and PC)

Post by Sabek »

You should check out the Overlord demo.
I got it last night off of Xbox Live.

You are an evil Overlord with a horde of gremlin-like minons to do your bidding.

Was a lot of fun.

I installed the demo a few days ago, just havent had time to try it yet.

And btw, thank god for Gamespots new download program, their FTP for unpaying users were between very very slow to impossible to download from, i tried to get the demo of Supreme Commander for 4 days, and around 8 disconnects before giving up. This new program they got actually work, AND you get a decent speed.

This game reminds me of Fable, but evil only.

The graphics, game play, everything seems to be very entertaining and fun. I'm definately going to get this one.
Booze - Retired Hunter on Zangarmarsh
Acun - Retired Cleric of Veeshan

Suggestions on a game?

Well there is a distinction between benevolent evil, and all out evil. If you go killing the innocent peasants you will be come more corrupt.

Fun game so far. I like the graphics. Your minions and servant guy are pretty funny.

Controls are pretty easy to learn but are different from the norm on the PC at least. Will get the 360 version later.

Commands are basic but seem to get the job done.

A few of my minions put pumpkins on their heads!

I have a feeling this game will play better on the 360 with the way things are controlled.

I played through the demo and to be honest, I thought the control scheme was pretty poor. This isn't to say that I wouldn't get used to it if I played the game, but I just didn't like it. Targeting got to be a pain in the ass sometimes, I would be trying to target a specific thing and I would get the wrong one locked on, also - having to hit the aim button (RT?) or the LB button to straighten out the view got annoying fast.

I like the concept of the game but I think they could have done far better with it, one of my biggest complaints being that from what I can tell the game seems far too linear.

Yeah, I can see that it might come down to puzzles and having enough minions to push or carry things. It's not a deep game for sure. I like the colorful graphics though. Not sure it would have much staying power. Best as a rental or something.

Dear Codemasters and Truimph studios,

I stole your game Overlords this time but it shows promise! The cover art is cool as well! Keep it up! I was this "*" close to buying your game!

PS. The crack for your Windows version isn't the greatest so I may be missing something. Any chance I can get into your next beta? And support fucking 1920x1200 res! WTF, that should be a standard these days.
