A scanner darkly

Even Keanu Reeves is good in this.

Amazing cast, cool story although the ending is a little obscure (more obvious if you have read the book) and class to look at.

Go see. the end.

Eric and I hated it. The style was pretty neat, but I saw Waking Life (hated it too!) so it got old for me after awhile. I was basically bored to tears.

Woody Harrelson in this film was horrible. He reminded me of a big baboon. "Look at that wacky stoner guy! He is so funny and loveable!" Uh no. He was embarrassing.

My sister's bf is a huge Philip K Dick fanboi and we went to see it with him. Some things with the plot didn't make sense to me so I asked him wtf was up and his explanation came way out of left field. I dont know if he was right but the film didn't suggest it at all to me. I thought the plot could have been a little more cohesive. You shouldn't have to read the book first to understand why so-and-so is in league with so-and-so, etc.

I realized that every Linklater film I've seen makes me want to poke my eyeballs out after awhile, the characters ramble on and on and on as if they are great philosophers or something...and the dialogue I do not find to be philosophical beyond what a couple stoners might find interesting. (Before Sunrise I enjoyed somewhat, but the sequal destroyed it for me.)

I read the book before watching the movie. I admit it is a bit tricky to follow the movie, which suprises me since it didnt seem like it would be a hard transition.

I watched A Scanner Darkly yesterday. I gave it a day before posting about it here but still can't formulate an opinion on it. I'm not even sure if I liked it or didn't like it but that's not to say it was a mediocre movie.

At the end, what drug was Philip K Dick referring to that fucked all those people up IRL?

I was it a week or two ago. I thought the story is decent and the movie was worth seeing for the style alone.

What I didn't exoect as a movie about stoners. I thought this was something sci-fi so I was really put off by it. I don't think I'm interested in seeing this film again as I'm not a fan of the genre but I didn't hate this film either.
