Does anyone know exactly what sparked the Hamas - Fatah war, or what? I've been checking several sources and I can't seem to find WHY its happening, just whats happening on a day to day basis.

Hamas won control of the government over Fatah in elections. The fighting is the result of power changing hands.

The Fatah recognizes the state of Israel. Hamas does not. I guess they're trying to believe Israel out of existence.

Oh yeah, I know all about the elections. Hamas has been in power for over a year now, no?

Or was there another election over the last month or two?

that story explains a lot of things.

Apparently they're doing away with the joint government that existed between Hamas and Fatah a few months ago and creating seperate states of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank within Gaza. Hamas is to control the Gaza Strip, and Fatah the West Bank.

The elections were early '06, and Hamas won a majority, but apparently Fatah have been blocking them in the government, and the power struggle has escalated.

Kind of like the Jews do with Jesus?
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

The Hamas PR engine (!) has been publicizing that the Palestinian people want the Fatah movement disbanded. I heard an interview on the radio with a guy involved with Hamas that was saying the Palestinian people are sick of Fatah destroying their lives. He said life would be better when Hamas was in complete control. I believe him. He may have also said that the Bears won the Super Bowl and Al Gore was elected President of the United States. I don't know, but that guy was preachin' the truth like propoganda was a strictly Nazi thing.

Most Jews I know don't deny the existence of Jesus, just his personal divinity. Not exactly the same thing.
