I have to say I'm kind of shocked. The first FF movie was horribly bad. Silver Surfer... and what he could mean to a plotline is AWESOME. If they fuck it up, I'll be really pissed off that they wasted such a good story on such a poorly handled Marvel franchise.

Edit: Same writer and director.

Raist, if you really liked all that, bug Winnow to post the Ultimate Galactus trilogy, or PM me and we'll work out a way for me to send it to you. It's seriously fucking awesome and it takes place in the Ultimate universe. Very, very cool.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

I thought the first one was entertaining. It wasn't on par with Batman Begins or Spiderman or X-Men, but it wasn't the abomination that so many previous comic adaptations were. I would definitely see the second one.

I'm with sylvus on this one. It wasn't on the scale of the first 2 X-Men, spiderman or Batman Begins but FF definately wasn't a bad movie.

Sadly the only real miscast parts in FF was Reid and Sue. I always imagined the characters a bit older than the actors were.

I would gladly see the 2nd one.

*edit* Fantastic Trailer btw =)

It's been roughly 20 years since I was really into comics. I think the last series I read was the Thanos (sp?) inifinity guantlet saga.

What's the scoop on Silver Surfer, I remember thinking he was badass (he was!) and I seem to recall him being a good guy more or less, he looks like he might be portrayed a villian in this trailer... is that accurate? Someone give me the quick lowdown!

Galactus gave Norrin Radd ("normal" guy from another planet) the Power Cosmic and turned him into his herald. Silver Surfer's job was to seek out new planets for Galactus to consume.

In short, the Silver Surfer decided he didn't want to do that so Galactus banished him to the Earth and made it so he couldn't escape Earth's atmosphere. I'm not a SS expert so that's all I really know about him.

There's been a lot of heralds for Galactus:
* Fallen One - the first Herald, established in Thanos #6-12 (2004)
* Silver Surfer - first appeared in Fantastic Four #48 (1966)
* Gabriel the Air-Walker - origin Thor #306 and later superseded by an android Fantastic Four #120 (1972)
* Firelord - first appeared in Thor #225
* the Destroyer Armor- first appeared in Journey into Mystery #118
* Terrax the Tamer- first appeared in Fantastic Four #211 (1979)
* Rom the Spaceknight - Rom #26-27, as a one time deal, was not empowered by the Power Cosmic
* Nova (Frankie Raye) - Fantastic Four #244 eventually quit
* Morg the Executioner - first appeared in Silver Surfer #70 (1992)
* Red Shift - Galactus: The Devourer miniseries(1999)
* Human Torch, the Invisible Man, in Fantastic Four #520-523 (2005)
* Stardust, from the Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill (2005) miniseries
o Punisher Cyborg used when there are no Heralds around
o Cloned army of Punisher Cyborg weaker, used as disposable enforcers

Individuals imbued with the power cosmic, but not employed as regular Heralds are:

* Dazzler- Dazzler #11
* Alpha Ray [1]
"The Power Cosmic" is a cool term.

The Destroyer was by far the best Herald Gally ever had

No talk, just walk. Best benchpress as well.

The worst was Gabriel airwalker who looked like a fairy poof-dah with that outfit

He looked like something out of "Priscilla Queen of the Desert"

New Trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fanta ... edium.html

"All that you know...is at an end." -Silver Surfer

This looks like it will be fun. The first FF movie was subpar, but still fairly entertaining. This could either be great, stupid fun...or too stupid to be great.

As a young Marvel fanboy, Silver Surfer is someone I've always loved, because he gave Marvel a character that made Superman look like a pussy.

If this could lead to a movie based on the Infinty Gauntlet series, then I could die happily right now.
