Or does it...
How brain dead is MS "client-side" security.
If you set:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
NoRun = 1
You can't get to the Start => Run command, and you can't get to C:\ or \\server\ in explorer.
However, you can create a shortcut on your desktop that points at \\server\share and explorer opens that up just fine...
And yes, there's no particular point... just ranting at MStupidity.
Disabling the RUN command disables \\UNC\paths

It bloodywell doesn't not "disable Start>Run. And that's it"Aslanna wrote:I'm confused. You're disabling Start>Run. And that's it!
Working as designed!
It also stops you from opening explorer and typing C:\ or \\servername\ in the address box. (well, not typing, but it will give you an "access disallowed" error.. and what the hell is disallowed anyway? what's wrong with denied?)
