The Departed

Post by Gonzoie - Luclin »

Go see this movie. I found it to be a very well made movie with superb acting. The only movie ive ever had this much fun watching has been Snatch, and thats saying a lot.

This movie puts you through so much suspense, and by the end i was pissed.

Go see it... seriously.

Saw it a few hours ago, and I must concur. It was great. I've never seen the original (Infernal Affairs) so I can't compare it to that... but as a stand-alone movie (instead of a remake), I can only give this massive praise.

As mentioned, the acting was excellent - I found the characters very likable, especially Alec Baldwin's. Kind of reminded me of his character Blake in Glengarry Glen Ross (his screentime was small, or smaller than I'd like, but what was there was hilarious). There was definitely a good deal of suspense, and as for the ending...

I absolutely did not see Costigan's death coming at all. That was a complete surprise. Sullivan's death on the other hand was fairly predictable yet still satisfying in a vengeful sort of way.

I'm anything but a diCaprio fan, but I can think of nothing about his performance that bothered me. As for other post-Titanic movies... do you not think he did pretty well in Catch Me If You Can?

Yeah he was tolerable in that movie. Mostly because he was playing a whiny pussy though.

Fair enough~ Honestly, though, I think DiCaprio definitely gave one of his best performances - and the rest of the cast followed in suit. Mark Wahlberg's character drew several laughs, Baldwin was hilarious, Nicholson was his usual self, Matt Damon did really well. Martin Sheen's character was somewhat forgettable, but I would credit that to the script and not the actor.

I liked the original(Infernal Affairs), however it was packed full of Hong Kong cheesiness. This movie is sooooo much better than the original!! This is probably one of the best remakes I've ever seen.

If it is, that is just about all I can think of in regards to it. They still alive? And why did I watch a movie called internal affairs that wasn't porn? Was it porn? I am confused. well, at least Matt Damon is in this. He was awesome in Titanic along with Ben Afflack.

Internal Affairs is indeed that movie, though I've never seen it. The Departed is Hollywood remake of the Hong Kong film, INFERNAL Affairs.

I thought DeCaprio was excellent in The Aviator. I could take or leave him in Gangs of New York though. He'll always be Gilbert Grape to me though...

Saw this tonight, I thought it was great.

Couple twists in it that I didn't see coming, probably more that I didn't realize than things that I did.

I'm not a huge Leonardo fan, but I thought he did really well in this movie.

Ever have an actor that you just despise above all others? DiCrapio is that guy for me. Every time I see him I want to rip his head off and shit down his throat. Just rubs me the wrong way. Too bad too because I really like Damon and Wahlberg.

Decent movie. High body count. Some I saw coming some I didn't.

What was in the envelope Billy gave to Madolyn? I must have missed that. Or it wasn't explained.

Other than that I didn't have a problem with any of the characters in the movie. Even if there's a certain actor I don't like I wont avoid seeing a movie just because they have a part in it. That's just dumb. Especially in a movie like this with a fairly large cast.

I'm thinking it was all the information on Colin in case he didn't make it at the end. I'm guessing she would have done something too if he didn't get shot at the end.

Finally saw this, good movie. The ending stunned me a bit. Squibs everywhere!

I assumed it had all the info on Colin and to contact Dignum (Marky Marks character).

I loved this movie, but I didn't like the ending too much.

Seems like just killing everybody off was the easy out of writing an actual resolution to the story
Just my opinion though, the acting was great, even Leo did a good job.
