Korn Unplugged

Post by Boogahz »

I am not a fan of MTV, but their Unplugged series has always impressed me...well, the bands impressed me when "unplugged." Some of the crazy shit Korn pulled onto the stage for their set was great. No matter how odd it was, the sound worked very well into their songs and the overall performance. From banging on the Piano's lid for a deep booming bass during Radiohead's Creep, to using a brass section to help reproduce some of the rough sounds they have in their normal shows. There were a couple guests such as Amy Lee for "Freak on a Leash" and The Cure for "Make Me Bad/In Between Days." Although I admit that I giggled when Robert Smith first sang the "make me bad" line. Overall, I didn't expect much from Korn while unplugged before my first viewing of the show online, but I will be grabbing this one on CD.

http://unplugged.mtv.com has the full show.

I would imagine they would work. Would be worth a shot at least.

Well Miir, I can do my best (although I am no proxy expert).

A proxy is basically a server that you could connect through (instead of directly to the internet). My understanding of the way that it works is this:

When you try to access a website, for example - instead of the request being sent directly from your computer - it would go to the proxy, the proxy would complete the request instead of your computer.

My further understanding of this is that businesses generally use them for a few main reasons:

1- Security. If all requests go out through the proxy, then the only thing at risk is the proxy, not all of the individual workstations.

2- Site control. When companies block out certain sites (or certain words, or types of sites, etc) from being able to be accessed by users, this could be done with the proxy as well.

However in your case, the benefit that sylvus is probably thinking of would be this: If you were to use a proxy located within the U.S., when you accessed one of the sites you generally have this issue with - the request to go to the site would be coming from the proxy (located in the u.s.) and not from your computer (in ireland) so in theory, it should work - but I guess I do not know that for sure, because I've never had the issue.

I know this might not be the most professional explanation, but I deal with them on a fairly regular basis at work, so I would like to think that I have a decent understanding of them.

Please correct me if I have provided any incorrect information.

Do I have to download a mainframe and hack the encryption codes? :P

On a serious note, what I would need to actually go and do to get all this nonsense working?

Just google for "free http proxy" or something along those lines. I think anonymizer.com or .net or .org used to have one, though all such sites are blocked at work through websense, so I don't even want to bother searching for you from here.
