The Dog Whisperer

Post by Lalanae »

Just started Netflixing the first season and I love this show. I think anyone who owns a dog should watch it. He's really got us thinking about our dogs differently.

I love that he has a special affinity for pit bulls too. His show dispells myths that there is nothing you can do about pit bulls, that they are genetically programmed to go ballistic. I never believed in breed extermination, but I had my reservations about the breed. Now I don't.

People make the mistake of assuming that affection is all a dog needs and end up causing bad behavior. Every owner Cesar comes into contact with is either not providing discipline, exercise, or both. Almost all of the problems are resolved by showing the owner how to properly walk their dog and educating them that all dogs must be walked to satisfy an instinctual need and to develop a proper "calm assertive" dominance over your dog.

The show does become redundant after awhile, when you see the same advice over and over. But it is funny to see wacked out little dogs. :D

Been watching it for years. I love the show. I've been to one of his seminars, and I preach 'Caesar's Way' whenever I can.

I sent my parents to one of his seminars as a gift. They have four dogs and have really benefited from a better understanding of the pack mentality. I think it should be required watching for all pet owners, especially the ones that think their 'princess' is their 'daughter'.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

Watched it a few times. Was pretty much old hat to me but the again I had a strong behavioural training including comparative...He's a damn good trainer and probably a good parent too...

Most of what he does is applicabe to kids too...:)...Except maybe throwing the kid out with a bunch of dog to socialize them...Social services would prolly frown on that...
