The Grudge 2

Post by Siji »

To people that don't like scary movies or this genre in the first place, it's a given that you wouldn't like this movie anyway.

Disclaimer: I liked the first one and these types of movies.

The Grudge 2 sucked. It sucked worse than any movie I've seen in years. It was a convoluted mess with absolutely no scary or suspenseful moments and such a horrible story line with absolutely no point that when it was over.. I felt robbed and wanted my 2 hours back. They tried to clone The Ring 2 and failed miserably. (Not that The Ring 2 was very good in the first place)

Acting: 1/5
Suspense: 1/5
Story: 1/5
Gore: 0/5
Wtf?: 4/5

There's no reason to see this movie. It's not even worth downloading, let alone wasting a blank DVD on. Thank goodness for Netflix.

Heh, I passed on this one to own on DVD because you pretty much summed up 99% of the reviews I've read online. I also thought the first one was decent for what it was and was hoping for the best from the sequel.

Out of all the genres of movies I buy, I get burnt on horror more than anything else. I'm starting to catch on now and watch my purchasing a bit more :P

I like horror movies, but I can never find any that make me jump or scare me.. The Descent didn't do either of those, but I'd still say it's one of the best that have been released in a long time.

I feel bad to say, but Blair Witch was the last one that kept me up at night. That was when it was circulating around the net and you didn't know if it was true or not, it hadn't been released in the theater yet and all you could do was watch a small grainy version on your computer. Yeah, it got me.

My girlfriend and I see scary movies in theaters. That's all we see in theaters. We know they're horrible movies but we love getting scared shitless.

It is severely easy to scare me.

I could hardly stay in the theater for the duration of The Grudge 2. It was horrifying. It made no sense but I've never been so frightened by a movie.

The Descent was a lot more interesting, though.

It must have been a theater vs DVD thing like the first Grudge I guess.. on DVD, it was seriously bad. But then again, so was the first Grudge.

The addition multiple people turning into 'bad spirit people' like the original wife was just absolutely stupid imo - epitomized at the end with the counselor/principal/teacher/whatever. And trying to make you believe that lighting the house on fire caused the 'spirits' to leave the house was also really, really dumb.
