The Big Box Project

Post by Animalor »

This is too funny.

So the dude's 360 breaks a while ago and MS at that point send out boxes to people to ship their 360's in for repair.

He gets a box, ships the 360 back to MS, gets another 360 and all is good.

His 2nd 360 dies and this time he calls and they won't ship him a box anymore. Policy has changed and now peolpe have to pay for their own shipping to the repair center, MS fixes the units/replaces them and ships him the unit back at their charge.

His plan is to raise funds and ship MS his 360 in the biggest box he can find. A storage container.
The mission is simple; to raise enough money through donations to send the largest box possible... a shipping container.

I want a 40 foot solid steel shipping container with nothing in it but my poor little xbox 360. Although, if I get enough donations, I intend on taking the box on tour across major metropolitan areas, picking up every broken xbox 360. It's a box they want, it's a box they'll get... it just might be a tad bigger than expected.

ME: Ok so what you're telling me that as long as I pay for the shipping you will ship it back to me for free?

T2: That is correct sir.

ME: So if you can ship it back to me, why can't you ship me a box to begin with.

T2: We do not offer that service anymore sir.

ME: You cant make an exception and ship me a box?

T2: No we have no boxes to send to you.

ME: You have no boxes to send me? What happened to all the boxes you used to send, you don't have them anymore?

T2: No, sir.

ME: Do you have any access to any cardboard? Could you make me a box and send that to me?

T2: No sir, I cannot.

ME: Are you saying that you have no cardboard in which you can send me.

T2: No sir.

ME: So what you are telling me is that Microsoft owns zero cardboard.

T2: I said we have no cardboard to ship to you.

ME: Well what cardboard are you going to send it back to me in?

T2: We will ship back your unit in the same box that you ship it to us in.

ME: Really. So no matter what box I send to you, you will return it to me in that very box.. because from what you just told me you have ZERO cardboard in which you could send it back to me in other than my box?

T2: Policy states that we ship it back to you in the box you send to us.

ME: So no matter what, whatever box I send I get back because I'm paying for that box so I must own it, right?

T2: That is correct sir.

ME: 100% you will send me my box and no other?

T2: Yes.

ME: Ok.

ME: How big is your repair center?

T2: Excuse me?

ME: How big is your repair center?

T2: I don't see how that pertains to the situation sir.

ME: Because I am going to send you my broked xbox in the biggest damn box you have ever seen.

T2: Ummm... ok.

ME: I'm talking huge, like Mac Truck huge.

T2: Ummm... ok.

ME: And you'll have to send that back right? because there is absolutely no other available cardboard for you to send it in... that's what you said right?

T2: Ummm, policy would state that we have to return your box to you.

ME: Great, let's set up the repair. You're getting a HUGE box.

I think that when he got to the point of sending a huge box, I would have made the exception to send a box to him instead.

I'm going to laugh when they:

A) don't pickup the box and have it return to sender
or
B) Ship it back to him in a regular box since the rule is that you don't have to return it in the same box (even though they said policy, they can still decide to ship it in another box). MS would then profit from it by having a big box at their disposal.

Reminds me of the guy that took the envelope in unsolicited credit card spam, and taped it to the top of a pallet of bricks. The credit card company had to pay for shipping within the US as stated on the envelope.

I believe he began by stuffing the envelopes with as much paper trash as he could, escalated to putting things of weight in the envelope, and then taping the envelope to an old tire he was throwing out.

edit. clarification.

That is so fucking funny because I told a guy I work with about this and he was telling me how his fiance will fill credit card envelopes full of shit and mail it back to them.

My father takes everything they sent to him, and sends it right back to them. Even the original envelope.

He's kind of crazy though.
