Ok, I was determined to not like this band. Whatever the hell their last album was, and whatever the hell single they had, I hated and pretty much made up my mind that I hated them too.
But Goddammit, I love The Black Parade. This is a very solid album, harking back to Pink Floyd, Queen, and Green Day's American Idiot. It's theatrical, flamboyant, and fucking awesome. It rocks. It's sad. It's fun.
Give it a try. You can listen to the entire thing here:

Mama is a fantastic track and a good indication of what I think makes this album so great. Sure, they are simply a mix of many things that have been done before. However, IMO they have a great combination of sound and themes that is very addictive and the album has an excellent flow. I don't want to just skip tracks. I don't think I've been this initially impressed by an album since American Idiot.
Have fun. Give it a try.

I really enjoyed this CD. Actually right after i picked it up i heard an interview on a local public station with a music enthusiast who does reviews, can't remember the name. But he pretty much said as you did, the CD is a very fun listen to.. Its like it was supposed to be all dark but they accidently created a really fun CD with uptempo beats to black lyrics. I love this CD and it quickly became one of my favorites of 2006.
