If someone leaves a guild should they....
Another interesting subject. This one actually game related.
My vote goes with keep everything that the person has fought his fair share for and earned. I'd love to hear other comments.

It's their character, their account, their choice.
You leave a guild with the upgrades you have recieved. The loot was awarded to you.
If someone moans like a bitch to you about giving it back, fuck them. If they were worth listening to you would still be in the guild.
If your leaving the game however, unless you're ebaying I see no reason why you wouldn't give it to you friends at least.
I choose where my loot goes, so it doesn't end up going to some retard who I never liked that manages to suck the guild masters cock enough.

When a person is rewarded an item I generally assume that it is because they earned it. Thus, it is their item. Not wanting to play the game anymore does not negate ownership of anything. You people all sound like you are living in some weird cultish commune where everything on your virtual persona is property of the collective.

Most guilds now have a really lengthy trial period, up to a month of time spending every minute to get into a guild. Then of course once you enter into the pecking order, and might not see loot for 6 weeks. Frankly, the way I see it, is if you put your time in and your devotion to get into the guild and keep at it weeks later, you get your rewards, in the form of loot.
Compare it to working for a company, you get up at 6, work all day, get back at 6. You earn money (loot, rewards from making the company successful), but if you decide to quit the company (guild), you may loose friends and it may be frowned upon by your seniors. But you keep all of the rewards you gained during the time of employment.

I think it's one thing you can do for the guild that gave you most of your gear - I don't spend my time helping equip people so they can make money in real life - If I ever leave EQ/CT (I'm an addict!) not only my aow monk legs but my character will be given to the guild - It's the least I could do for everything they have done for me.
On the other hand - for some people it may depend on the guild. The way CT is set up - We have a guild bank, we supply our members with ALL supplies for raid costs. We get them spells - if we don't have it - We invest money to buy it for them.

I think it depends on an arrangement. If you are given a guild item and asked not to sell it or give to friends but to return to guild if you don't use it anymore then why keep it?
If it's a gift or reward not specifically labeled "guild property" then it's yours.
Kinda like in RL you work, get to use company car, cellphones, credit card or whatever. When you quit you don't just take it as your own just because you used it for the last year or something.

I guess it depends on if you were given things with the mindset they would best benefit the guild, like the first BoC for your main tanks, and then your uppity guy gets an ingrown hair up his ass, throws a hissy fit and leaves. No, there's no rules that say you can't be deceitful and milk your old guild for all they're worth. Just don't be so shocked when people think you're a dirtbag after you do it.
