NBA 2K7

Post by Winnow »

2K wins the 360 basketball wars this year.

This game is amazing in the categories of presentation, player motion, gameplay, and user interface. The only lacking part is player faces but that's forgivable as when watching a game as you normally would, you easily recongnize all of the players by their body shape and how they move and shoot on the court.

When creating your own player, you can do all the normal things like body size, shape, face, etc but you can also pick their styles. 2K sports has a shooting motion recorded for almost every player in the NBA....Shawn Marion's goofy jumper? yep.

I simulated a game between the Suns vs Mavs. First of all, 2K gets an A+ for presentation. It felt like I was watching a real game and the announcers were integrated into the game perfectly. During the game, all the stats are kept of course but you can go back to the scoring history and replay any shot sequence during that game with full camera controls. Very nice. Best of all, the game played out as you'd think it would between the Suns and the Mavs...the Suns held the lead comfortably up until the 4th quarter and then collapsed, letting the Mavs back into the game...but this time, with Amare playing again, the Suns won the game.

Nice practice modes, several game modes, etc.

I give this game an A

Gameplay: A
Presentation: A+
Character models: B
Character Animations: A+
Extras (Player Info, Stats, etc): A

I still suck at sports games but in practice mode, I found it easy to pick up the controls and think the shooting controls are the best I've used. All I use sports games for are simulations and NBA 2K7 was excellent. I would have given the game an A- if the Suns lost.

This renews my irritation that 2K can't make an NFL game anymore. 2K's mission for next year should be to improve the realism of player faces. The players stats and pictures look great in HD though. Very clear.

I've played NBA 2kwhatever the past two years. It is simply the best basketball game out there. The controls are easy to learn, and the graphics are good enough. This is pound for pound the best basketball game out there.
