Madden 07 for 360
Was going to pick this one up, but my disappointment in the NCAA 07 game and the less the stellar reviews on the boards has me rethinking. Anyone get this game and what are your thoughts?
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Was going to peek at amazon to see if any vendors had a good price (as well as having some DVDs I want so I could consolidate shipping). Looks like it has more features, but features in the Madden franchise are just fluff. '06 has nice graphics...is '07 good enough to spend another $60 on?
I doubt it, but would like to hear from those that bought '07 too...

I downloaded the Xbox version of the game last night and tried it out. Graphics seem ok although I'm sure they're a lot better on the 360.
I only use it to simulate games out of curiousity. It's obviously flawed as it had the Steelers beating the Cardinals 31-24 in the preseason when we know that didn't happen!
It also had Warner and Edge out of the game with injuries before halftime.
I'll simulate the entire 07 season and see how it turns out.
As for playing the game, who knows, the graphics seem a little better than last year (not quite as good as the better 2K5 ESPN NFL game of two years ago.) (EA sucks the big one and will always until another company can put out NFL games again)
I'd say the NFL 2K5 still has the better presentation over the 07 Madden game but would like to think that the 360 version finally has improved graphics.
Overall grade: F+ (a little beter than last year)

Nah, EA and Madden pissed me off when they:Sylvus wrote:There's something wrong with you people.
Every man should get the new NCAA and the new Madden every year. I probably have like 11 or 12 of the 16 years of madden on 3 or 4 different consoles.
A>Got the exclusive NFL licence, saying goodbye to $20 games and NFL 2K series.
B>Proceeded to strip the hell out of the Madden game of features included in previous versions after acquiring said licence
C>Jacking up the price to $60
No thanks

Boog,
reread his post, he said they pissed him off when they bought the rights and ended his $20 2K series options.

I am almost positive it was the other way around. There was a special on it recently that I was reading/watching that mentioned that the NFL figured they could do better by picking who got access to what licensing. Personally I would think that they would make more by charging all of the companies for the licensing deals.Tyek wrote:lol, here I am thinking you misread it and I am the one that misread yours. Sorry.
I thought EA went to them and offered a shitload of cash and the NFL went with it.

You are probably right about the NFL going to EA. You better believe EA though had some sway in convincing the NFL about the "benefits" of being exclusive.
The 2K series was very enjoyable when it was out. Madden dropped in major quality compared to the previous year and didn't have the same features 2K did in the previous year's game, that's what really grinds my gears

I'm in total agreement with you Boog that I would see the NFL making tons of money charging licensing deals across the board. Unless they really raped EA for all they were worth.
Dunno, I'm still not buying Madden again. I'd rather rent it and continue my achievement whoring

Here is how i see it..
Both EA and ESPN make good sports games..
Both EA and ESPN own a license to a sport.. NFL to EA, and MLB to ESPN.
EA made better baseball games hands down.
ESPN made better football games hands down.
Everyone gets fucked, except those fucking madden fanboi's who continually buy the game because they've been playing a variation of it since sega.
